Narbonne-Plage has no equal to turn heads and attract the crowd of holidaymakers. This seaside resort of the Aude department in the Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées region was created in the early 1950s. Since then, the tramontana has shaped the coastal landscapes into one of the most Beautiful parts of the Mediterranean seafront.
The beach is spread over 5 km and is made up of vast expanses of fine sand. The marina is well known to sailing enthusiasts and the beach is dotted with numerous sports facilities, from beach volleyball courts to petanque courts. Narbonne-Plage also has a sailing school and a diving club.
The encounter between ancestral traditions and more contemporary sporting disciplines sometimes gives rise to strange mixtures. Take surfing for example : a sports competition organized every year that is an opportunity to pay a slice of laughter between friends or family.
The city of Narbonne, nearby, offers many possibilities. From the place of the Forum, one of the cardinal points of the place, you can radiate and go in search of the various curiosities : the archaeological museum, the large sculpted altarpiece of the chapel of Our Lady of Bethlehem... Without forgetting the Roman Horreum. This warehouse carved out of the rock and dating from the 1st century BC. J.-C. recalls that originally, Narbonne was an important commercial center of antiquity. The exchanged goods have varied little since that distant time : olives, thyme, wine, honey, refined wines and fruits of the fishing. Les Halles, every week, is the scene of a strange merry-go-round. No fewer than 70 traders are busy installing their stall. Bakers, fishmongers, butchers, delicatessens, caterers, tripjournalists : all the trades are represented. And for good reason, since it is the mythical market of Narbonne. The Baltard Pavilion which shelters it has recently celebrated its centenary. Not to be missed !

The market of Saint Pierre- sur mer is fine as well as Narbonne Plage, but it is smaller. The beach is well maintained. Space for swimming. We eat well there with reasonable prices. Gruissan (which is close to Narbonne Plage) is super beautiful; we liked it. We think we'll come back and enjoy it a little more because 1 week goes by fast and we've had days of bad weather....
