Formerly called "chemin de la Petite Croix", the Croisette is the most famous promenade on the French Riviera. Lined with palm trees, luxury boutiques, splendid palaces and opulent Art Deco mansions dating from the Belle Epoque, the Croisette has the beauty of the sparkling Mediterranean as its backdrop. After tasting bouillabaisse, herb pie, panisse and pissaladière, we strongly recommend a walk along the Allées de la Liberté: located between the Palais des Festivals and the Vieux Port, the Allées de la Liberté are lined with plane trees and flowers and are bathed in a very special atmosphere. Colorful and fragrant, it is the perfect place for bucolic strolls: you will find a bandstand, but also a daily flower market, as well as flea markets on Saturday and Sunday. And how can we mention Cannes without mentioning its famous Vieux Port? Nestled at the foot of the Suquet hill, it is one of the historical sites of Cannes, along with the Quai Saint-Pierre. The Suquet district contains all the soul of Cannes: the cradle of the town, its hill offers incomparable views of the Croisette and the sea. You will find in its alleys many testimonies dating from the Middle Ages such as the Musée de la Castre, the actual vestige of what was once an imposing medieval castle of the monks of Lérins, but also the Tour Carrée overlooking the bay of Cannes, or the rue du Mont-Chevalier. We advise you to visit this mythical district on foot, for a fascinating dive into the history of Cannes.

But beyond its undeniable historical charm, Cannes is also a green destination and nothing is better than a walk in the Croix des Gardes forest park to realize this: only a few meters from the Croisette, this natural park coiled at the top of a hill is home to one of the largest and most beautiful mimosa forests of the Mediterranean coast. This bewitching, colorful and fragrant place is a delight for walkers and cyclists thanks to its 20 kilometers of marked trails. From the heights of this hill, you will enjoy a unique panorama on the mountains of Esterel and the bay of Cannes: a view not to be missed.

Tennis, golf, and casino make Cannes a resolutely elegant place, but if the seaside resort is so appreciated by its visitors, it is certainly also thanks to its beaches which, let us say it, are absolutely superb. With the Estérel massif in the background, the 8 kilometers of fine sandy beaches of Cannes are enough to make young and old succumb, whatever your budget for this vacation. If some are private and others public, the beaches of Cannes have all the particularity to be well exposed and to have many facilities. Between the pontoons of the Croisette, you will find during the summer a good number of nautical clubs and other sport renters that will allow you to do water-skiing, wake-boarding, jet-skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, catamaran, towed buoy, sea fishing, paddle, diving, kite-surfing and many other activities.

Finally, just a short distance from the Croisette, the Lerins Islands are a must for your stay: facing the bay of Cannes, in an absolutely fabulous setting where preserved nature and heavenly landscapes are in perfect harmony, these islands are true little havens of peace where you will love to wander around discovering their fauna and flora. The largest of these 4 islands (and the most famous) is Sainte-Marguerite Island: accessible by boat, you can discover its fort built by Vauban and its hiking trails, lined with eucalyptus and pine trees.

To visit: The Croisette, the island Sainte Marguerite which is very pretty (you need good walking shoes. The ideal is to go to the beach of Mandelieu which is more family with less people. Fréjus is right next door too. The evening atmosphere at the Croisette is nice too. Plan a good budget if you stay in Cannes.

To do: the shuttles to St Tropez. Meynadier Street with its very good bargains stores. It is a very beautiful and lively city! Beautiful fireworks.
