Halfway between Narbonne and Béziers, on the Gulf of Lion, Fleury is a rare holiday resort which is articulated around three sites. Between the historic village, the seaside resort and the old fishing village, you can enjoy multiple atmospheres.
One of Fleury's main attractions is of course the large beach at Saint-Pierre-La-Mer, which stretches over 5 kilometres of fine sand. Original, it offers activities to suit all tastes : a beach area where you can play beach volleyball, beach soccer or beach rugby and a library area where, in the shade of an arbour, installed in a deckchair, you can read books made available free of charge. But many other activities await you: sailing, kitesurfing, water-skiing, kayaking, paddle, jet-ski... and you can even learn how to rescue at sea thanks to courses given by professionals, from the age of 8.
After a few hours on the Mediterranean coast, discover the historic village. Set back from the coast, it has the charm of these villages that have crossed history. While walking, you will see some vestiges of the ramparts which fortified the site, in the Middle Ages, and many other traces of the past : turret, old portico, hunter-wheels... Also appreciate the Jean Moulin square which houses the Romanesque church of Saint-Martin, erected in the 11th and rebuilt in the 16th and 17th centuries, and the beautiful fountain with columns surmounted by pears, symbol of the city. Then join the pretty port of Les Cabanes, at the mouth of the Aude. In the heart of a wild and protected site, this ancient fishing village will charm you with its authenticity and tranquility.
Then take the many hiking trails that allow you to appreciate the beauty of Fleury's natural heritage. You can thus discover the Clape massif, between vineyards and garrigue, the pond of Pissevaches, protected natural site, and the Eye Doux, abyss of astonishing beauty. By mountain bike, criss-cross the Cistes and Rosemary loop or the Pech de la Bade loop, which offers superb panoramic views over the Narbonnais plain, the Black Mountain and the Pyrenees. On the way, make a few stops at local producers to taste local wines but also all the other flavours of the region : seafood, honey, cheese...
