Located on the Normandy coast, between Caen and Deauville, Cabourg is a seaside resort whose origins go back to the 18th century. At the time, Cabourg is only a village and the inhabitants live mainly by fishing and handicrafts. It was not until 1850 that the small town became really a holiday resort under the impetus, it is said, of a businessman and Parisian lawyer.
Today, Cabourg is an inevitable destination of the Côte Fleurie. City dwellers come to enjoy a breath of fresh air and enjoy a seafood platter with a view of the beach. It stretches for 4 km and recalls the Belle Epoque with its cabins of beaches striped white and blue.
The establishment of the baths is an institution in Cabourg. A little further on the beach is the facade of the Grand Hotel and its bay windows described by Proust in one of its most famous novels as well as the casino which has already hosted the space of an evening, the most Great of French song. The gardens of the casino are the focal point of the streets and alleys arranged in the manner of a Greco-Roman amphitheater in an arc of circle.
A romantic destination, Cabourg also has a thalassotherapy center with a marine course area, a cardio fitness area, a sauna / hammam and a spa. More original, the thalasso of Cabourg has a space tisanerie which makes it possible to taste, using water fountains, purifying beverages.
Cabourg, sometimes known as the "city with children", also benefits from the "Famille plus" label. This makes it an ideal destination for families, while tanning and water activities are on the program. Sand yachting, kitesurfing, windsurfing and canoeing : it's up to you !

No restaurants since confinement... but walks Merville-Franceville by the beach, Houlgate, the hike of the cliffs of the Black Cows (attention to the tides). For the return trip from Villers to Houlgate: go to the tourist office for the map because there is no indication. Honfleur, Deauville, Dives-Sur-Mer, Beuvron en Auge : magnificent. Walk to the chapel... Friendly shopkeepers.

The good restaurants remain "Le Baligan" and "Le Bouche à Oreille". To do: the port in Dives (where you can buy fishermen and at the moment scallops), the beautiful markets of Cabourg and Dives, as for the walks: they are numerous and do not have to take your car.
