Moistened by the Doustre gorges, the streams of Gibiat, Saint-Merd and the winding meanders of the Dordogne, Marcillac-la-Croisille takes its place in the heart of the Pays de Ventadour, in the department of Corrèze. Twenty kilometres from Tulle and 50 from Brive-la-Gaillarde, this green resort nestling in an exceptional natural environment is one of the department's star destinations. Particularly appreciated by families, the commune is as much chosen by holidaymakers in search of rest as it is by holidaymakers in constant need of exercise. Its main asset? Its famous Valletta lake. A "Sport Nature" resort, this lake nestling in a setting of exceptional beauty is a paradise for water sports enthusiasts and thrill seekers. As a family, we advise you first to go for a walk or a bike ride around it, for a short hike that will allow you to discover some of the most beautiful panoramas that the lake has to offer. After a session of tree climbing, orienteering, mountain biking, tennis, volleyball, climbing, Nordic walking, archery or fishing, head for one of the two supervised beaches on the lake. Windsurfing, optimist, canoeing, but also dinghy, catamaran, jet-ski, kitesurfing, water-skiing and many other activities will be on the program on the lake. From the clear sand of its lake beaches, you can also opt for lazy sessions under the sun, or for a few (supervised) fathoms in the fresh water of the lake. Fitness classes, bike rides and a 250-metre long zip line over the water will complete your moments spent at Lake Valletta.

Lovers of quiet strolls, or dynamic hikes? You will find here something to satisfy all your desires. There are some really beautiful places to discover around the village, notably the Lantourne viaduct which spans Valletta (207 metres high), the Malèze Bridge, the Bardot Garden built in terraces on the slopes of the Dordogne gorges, or the Roc du Busatier. Located in the south of the commune, the latter is a particularly magnificent belvedere, which offers its lucky visitors incredible panoramas of the Dordogne gorges and its wooded valleys. Finally, the paths along the stream of the Aigaries will be perfect to discover the rich cultural and natural heritage of the region, when the Bois des Ramandes will rather lend itself to country walks, or to the picking of chanterelles and ceps in season.
