A water with a thousand shades of blue, long beaches of fine sand as far as the eye can see, a typical village steeped in tradition and sunny all year round: welcome to Propriano. A small Corsican village located between Bonifacio and Ajaccio, Propriano and its marina thrive in the heart of the Gulf of Valinco. Between sea and mountains, this little pearl of the Isle of Beauty will offer you many green excursions, long idleness sessions and breathtaking landscapes: you are ready?
With its good restaurants, its turquoise water coves and its bucolic hinterland made of rocky mountains covered with scrub, Propriano has all the cards in hand to allow you a radiant holiday, according to all your desires. Populated since Roman times as evidenced by the remains of houses and buildings found on the spot, Propriano : a seaside resort organized around its church Notre-Dame de la Miséricorde. If it is above all the beaches of Propriano that attract you, we still advise you to visit the heart of this old village and in particular the Tarra Nova district, the oldest district of the seaside resort.
Loved by holidaymakers because of its exceptional panoramic views of the Gulf of Valinco, it is the ideal place to pack your bags if you like excursions, whether they are cycling or hiking. There are also many hiking routes that you can follow, from the coast to the depths of the maquis. The Campomoro loop by the coastal path (15 kilometres), the Monte San Petru hike from the Col de Saint-Eustache (8 kilometres), but also the "Mare E Mare Sud" and "Mare E Monti Sud" routes (two routes of 5 days' walking) are among the most beautiful paths in the region. For less sporty and more "quiet" walks, we advise you to take the D19 towards Viggianello at the exit of the town, in order to be able to contemplate a breathtaking view of the gulf below.
The port of Propriano is also a must for your visit: sheltered from the prevailing winds, this marina and fishing port is at the heart of the town's life. A well-known place to stroll, this port offers boat and sail enthusiasts more than 400 rings, many services and very beautiful panoramas. See in particular the Propriano lighthouse which, from the entrance to the port, stands proudly 17 metres high facing the bay which some consider to be one of the most beautiful bays in Corsica.
As for activities, if you like water sports and adventure, then Propriano is for you. At Baracci Natura, located in the neighbouring municipality of Viggianello, you can enjoy a wide range of activities, from canyoning in the Baracci Gorge to tree-climbing in the adventure park, via zip line and via ferrata. And whether you are a novice in this field or an experienced sportsman, you will inevitably find your happiness. If you prefer peace and quiet and wellness activities, then you should go to the Baths of Baracci: massages, hammam, sauna, jacuzzi and other treatments will allow you to enjoy beautiful moments of relaxation, in this spa centre very popular in the region.
Finally, how to evoke Propriano without mentioning its magnificent beaches? Along the turquoise sea bordering the seaside resort, there is no shortage of beaches, you will be spoilt for choice! They are called "Laurosu Beach", "Puraja Beach", "Sampiero Beach", "Mancinu Beach" or "Lido Beach", and will all offer you magnificent expanses worthy of postcards to enjoy a good sunbath. You will also find nautical clubs where you can practice a very wide choice of activities at sea: sailing lessons, catamarans, optimist, windsurfing, babyskiing, wakeboarding, towed buoys, water skiing, bodyboarding, surfing, sea hiking, paddle, boat rental, kayaking, pedal boat... How will you start?
