About fifteen kilometres north-east of Bergerac, Saint-Georges-de-Montclard is the perfect place for those who wish to discover the soul of the Périgord, its essence and its traditions. Perfect destination for lovers of the "made-in-France" region, this land of escape and adventure will amaze sportsmen and women as well as history and gastronomy enthusiasts.

Here, in Saint-Georges-de-Montclard, one has the impression that time has stood still to freeze forever the picturesque character of its old stones. You enter the village through narrow little streets, for a break away from it all, and it is the peace and quiet that first welcomes you. The calm of an authentic village, full of ochre-coloured stone houses with brown roofs. Houses with colourful shutters topped with fragrant wisteria, ivy and bright flowers, which testify that life here is sweet and the parentheses flourishing. In the heart of the Dordogne, this village in the Périgord Pourpre region is home to a beautiful heritage that you won't want to miss as you stroll through its narrow streets. First monument to see: the Manoir de la Beaureille. Dating from the 11th century, it is worth a visit for its worked facades and its beautifully preserved roofs. Not far finally, it is the Château de Montclard which awaits you: overlooking the Caudeau valley, this very old castle seems to date from the end of the 15th century. It was torn down during the French Revolution and only retains a high rectangular tower from its original building, as well as vestiges that bear witness to its original size. With its beautifully crafted balconies, towers and beautiful stones, it gives the town a certain elegance that blends marvellously with the gentle atmosphere of the surrounding countryside. The village chapel, the church of the hamlet of Saint-Georges, not forgetting the fountain and the 13th century market hall will complete the inventory of sites not to be missed during your visit to Saint-Georges-de-Montclard.

Hikers ? Put on your trainers and/or get on your favourite bike to discover the villages surrounding Saint-Georges-de-Montclard. There are many itineraries that will take you to Villamblard, Issac, Monbazillac (18 kilometres to the south), the Château de Lanquais (13 kilometres away), or even Bergerac. Bergerac and the shadow of its famous Cyrano will undoubtedly be an enchanting parenthesis during your holidays in the Dordogne. Its museums, its banks of the Dordogne, its monuments and its gastronomy will delight young and old alike. Moreover, it is impossible to stay in the Dordogne without succumbing to the delights of its cuisine! On the menu?
