On the southern Finisterian coast, on the border with Morbihan, the commune of Clohars-Carnoët has all the cards in hand to enable you to spend unforgettable holidays in Brittany. Blending brilliantly authenticity, dynamism and ideal location, Clohars-Carnoët is definitely the ideal place for your family stays.
Ah, Clohars-Carnoët... If its name is a little complicated to pronounce, this small town typical of the Breton coast is nevertheless well worth the detour. His major asset? Its impressive rocky coast, bordered by the Sentier des Douaniers (GR34). If idleness is king, as well as nautical activities, hiking remains the flagship activity of the seaside resort, popularized in the early twentieth century. Thanks to the GR34, but also to a whole host of marked footpaths for pedestrians as well as for mountain bikers (including the Painter's Trail), you will embark on hikes with incredible panoramas where land and sea intermingle in a poetic chaos of colours, lights and iodine odours. Inland, the splendid forest of Carnoët (or Toulfoën) without forgetting the Cistercian Abbey of Saint-Maurice are worth the detour. The latter, nestled in the heart of a 123-hectare wooded park, is worth a visit for the remains of its church as well as for its cloister and its surroundings, made of salt meadows. An unmissable part of your stay? The charming little port of Le Pouldu, nestling on the banks of the Laïta river which flows into the sea not far from Fort Clohard. Refuge of Gauguin in his time, as well as many other painters and artists, this port surrounded by small sandy beaches is today an elegant seaside resort, home to splendid bourgeois villas of the early twentieth century. From the port, you can easily take the marked paths that run along the creeks of the resort, to reach the other port of Clohars-Carnoët: the port of Doëlan. A real pearl, this lively port lives with the tides. Shrimps, lobsters, crabs, mackerels and sardines are sold daily in the port, to the delight of seafood lovers.
This coast bordering Clohars-Carnoët is also caressed by the sometimes capricious waves of the sea, as well as by beautiful long sandy beaches, where parents and children love to go as soon as the first rays of sunshine appear. At the foot of the cliffs, several beaches are worth the detour, such as that of Les Grands Sables: the historic cradle of the town, it is above all a family beach. The beach of Bellangenêt is certainly the busiest in summer, when finally the beach of Kerou will satisfy the sportsmen. A recognised surfing spot and extremely popular with surfing enthusiasts since the 1970s, it allows surfing novices as well as sensation aficionados to practice surfing in an absolutely magnificent setting.

The museum "In the footsteps of Gauguin" with an animation for 5€ per person (about 2 hours); visit of the submarine in Lorient; very good pancakes and crêpes in Guidel with a great view on the coast: crêperie "Les Pieds dans l'Eau".

To go to see the Valley of the Saints: magnificent place. The port of Doelan. The Bellanget beach is a very beautiful beach. Possibility to ride a pony in Mellac at Les Galopins and a donkey in Arzano. It's a pity that no magazine says so... we found them by word of mouth. Very good reception in both places: to be recommended when you have children. The trip takes between 45 minutes and an hour.

A good restaurant in Doléan (left bank): "Le Suroît" in front of the port. Lots of activities at Le Pouldu during the holidays and a nice Kérou beach surf school with super dynamic instructors for the children, very good.
