Lovers of holidays in the mountains, what would you say to discover the most beautiful reliefs... of Brittany? Land of legends, land of history and escape, Brittany has a thousand and one faces. In addition to dream beaches, Finistère is home to a real natural treasure: the Monts d'Arrée. Multiplying hiking sites, Commana is the ideal place to discover this geological curiosity in the heart of a region rich in many jewels.

About thirty minutes south of Morlaix, and about fifty kilometres east of Brest, in the heart of Brittany, lies the small town of Commana. In the middle of the Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique, Commana is situated on the northern slope of the Monts d'Arrée. Land of traditions and legends, the Monts d'Arrée and their preserved ecosystem are a dream come true for lovers of the great outdoors and green landscapes. The highest point in Brittany with its peaks perched at an altitude of 385 metres (such as Roch'Trévelez and Tuchen Kador), the Monts d'Arrée have been shaped by centuries and centuries of history, sculpted by the wind and time. If one forgets for a moment that Commana is in Brittany, it would be easy to believe that we are in the heart of the Irish or Scottish moors; the rolling landscape of the Monts d'Arrée is strewn with fragrant broom, peat bogs and heather which, once in bloom, cover the valleys with a soft purple colour, to reveal to its curious visitors a panorama of the most typical of Brittany. To allow you to discover all the richness of the landscapes of Commana and the Monts d'Arrée, the town has a large number of marked trails, so as not to lose a crumb of its most astonishing geological splendours as well as its marked heritage. If there is one thing we advise you to do, it is to take the "sentier des Korrigans": in the middle of the peat bogs, this 6 kilometre long interpretative trail, which is both fun and educational, will lead you through the Mougau peat bog, renowned for its unspoilt and unspoilt landscapes.

On foot or by bike, go through the heart of the village for a jump back in time: discover its 16th century parish enclosure, its triumphal arch, its beautiful church with its 57-metre high bell tower (known for its many jewels such as the altarpieces of Sainte-Anne and the Rosary), but also its old mills, its Christianized menhir from the Iron Age, its covered lane of Mougau, not forgetting its old buildings typical of Brittany, made of old grey stones with incomparable charm. Only 5 minutes away from Commana, the Drennec lake is a must for the whole family. In the heart of the green valleys, this lake is ideal for a swim or a relaxing break, thanks to its two large beaches. Restaurants but also a nautical centre (with paddle, dinghy and kayak rentals) will allow you to make the most of this extraordinary place. Walkers and other mountain bike fans will be able to enjoy several marked trails, including the 7-kilometre lake tour. Not far away, the Domaine de Menez Meur is also worth seeing: with its trails between rocky ridges and quiet moors, it offers unique landscapes to discover, and will delight young and old alike thanks to its educational farm and its famous wolf enclosure. Finally, for photographers, it is impossible to miss the most emblematic spot in the Monts d'Arrée: the Saint-Michel de Brasparts chapel. From its mountain located about ten kilometres from Commana, it offers incredible panoramas over a large part of the region: a must to discover during your stay in Commana!
