In the department of Gard, on the border with Ardèche, Bordezac is a small preserved Eden that one would like to be able to keep secret. Whether you are passing through Bordezac for a holiday with family, friends or lovers, chances are you will be amazed by the beauty of its abundant nature. Ready to pack your bags? Watered by the Cèze River which flows peacefully in the south of the village, Bordezac is the epitome of a gentle way of life. A quiet rural village, nestled in the heart of the countryside some forty kilometres north of Alès, Bordezac culminates at an altitude of 450 metres. From this high perched promontory, the views of the surrounding nature are breathtaking. You will find a town hall, but also a church dedicated to Saint Joseph built in 1859, as well as a dolmen and a menhir. The houses here have beautiful stone facades in light tones, terracotta tile roofs and pastel-coloured shutters, which contrast beautifully with the blue of the sky and the bright green of the vegetation. Several urban districts make up the commune (Les Martines, Les Sabottes...), as well as several hamlets that you will have the opportunity to visit, such as La Boudène, Le Lauzas, Rochoules or Le Sauvezon. The stream of the Long which winds its way along the Côte du Long before flowing into the Cèze is an excellent hiking site for those who love to go out in the countryside. Whether you are on foot or by bike, it will be a perfect way to visit the village and its hamlets, especially in the direction of the Boudène district (south of the village) where a waterside guinguette awaits young and old for a gourmet and bucolic interlude, in an absolutely splendid setting. Sporty, sporty, some sites are worth the detour in Bordezac : Try to climb a whole top of the Col de la Matte, walk through the Bois de Bordezac and Bessèges, the Crête de Gourret, the valley of the Maubert stream, the 89-hectare Ranc Corbier stream, renowned for its abundant vegetation, or the Ganière forest, the pine forest of Salzmann de Bessèges, go through the GR44A, and don't miss a short detour via the Château de Portes (17 kilometres away) and the Cocalière cave (19 kilometres away), two ideal visits to complete your discovery of the area and the Cévennes.
