In the heart of the Médoc, on the Côte d'Argent, Vendays-Montalivet is a very pleasant seaside resort with a preserved seafront. Between beaches, marked out paths and numerous animations, your holidays will be placed under the sign of relaxation and leisures.
With its 12 km coastline, Vendays-Montalivet is an ideal destination for all water sports lovers. With its many surf schools, you can quickly learn this discipline or take some advanced courses. Discover also the surf version Goliath where you will be able to evolve with several on the same board, irresistibly funny in family or between friends. But many other activities await you such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, canoeing... On the beach, quietly enjoy the magnificent natural setting or let yourself be tempted by a game of beach rugby or by new sensations in a sand yacht.
Then take the 40 kilometres of hiking trails and the 30 kilometres of cycle paths to discover the resort. In the village of Vendays, visit the Saint-Seurin church, built in 1867 in a neo-Gothic style, then the Grange du Patrimoine, a museum that traces 100,000 years of human history in the Médoc. Also enjoy the town hall and its beautiful 17th century building. Then go to the seaside to see the emblematic monument of the city : the column surmounted by a virgin facing the sea. Also on the coast, take a short excursion to the monument commemorating Operation Frankton, an Allied military raid.
Vendays-Montalivet is also ideally situated to discover the Médoc. Thanks to the Vélodyssée, join Soulac-sur-Mer to admire the Notre-Dame basilica (12th century) and the old village. Then continue to the Pointe de Grave for an incredible view of the Gironde estuary and the fabulous Cordouan lighthouse. To the south, the Vélodyssée will take you to Lake Hourtin, the largest lake in France, and will allow you to visit the nature reserve next to it. But also take other roads to visit the vineyard, taste the great vintages and take a few gourmet breaks. You can then taste the specialities of Medoc gastronomy : oysters, shad, lamprey in the bordelaise, pibales, grilled lamb on vine shoots, Medoc attic...
