Linked to the municipality of Rogliano, Macinaggio and its marina have enjoyed a very good reputation among sea lovers since ancient times. It was on the quays of the port of Macinaggio that Napoleon landed on his return from exile on the Island of Elba, located off the Corsican coast. Also, many sailors, navigators and pleasure boaters have once stayed in Macinaggio, dazzled by the astonishing beauty of this raw jewel, concentrated in nature.
If there is one activity for which Corsica is sovereign, it is hiking. Thanks to its extremely generous nature and magnificent views of the turquoise sea, Macinaggio is no exception and attracts many hiking and cycling enthusiasts every year. The legendary Customs Path, also known as the Coastal Path, will offer you some of the most beautiful landscapes in Corsica from Macinaggio to Centuri over more than 19 kilometres: from cliffs to protected dunes, not to mention the legendary Genoese towers that dot the Corsican coast, young and old will be amazed by the beauty of the local panoramas. The Finocchiarola Islands Nature Reserve also deserves to be seen: of rare beauty, this nature reserve is a peaceful sanctuary where many species of seabirds have made their home, such as the crested cormorant, the pitchou warbler and the Audouin gull. The "Time's Edge" trail will allow you to follow in the footsteps of the historical treasures of Macinaggio (and Rogliano), with its churches, chapels, medieval castle U Castellu, famous windmills, convent of Saint Francis and Genoa towers (such as the Tower of Agnello and the Holy Mary Tower) built between the 14th and 18th centuries to protect Corsica from invasion.
Definitely facing the sea, the seaside resort of Macinaggio will allow you to practice a very large number of water sports thanks to its clubs and training centres. On the agenda? Catamaran, kayak, dinghy, windsurfing, optimist, sea excursions aboard the San Paulu, diving to discover the underwater splendours of Sainte-Marie and the island of Giraglia, motor boat rental (with or without a licence)... You won't know where to start! Finally, if you prefer to laze under the sun or indulge in a few moments at sea, then the magnificent coves and beaches of Macinaggio, true quiet little paradises, will guarantee you long dream afternoons.
