Turquoise water to be damned, a village perched on top of everything that is most picturesque and breathtaking panoramas: welcome to Corsica, and more precisely to Prunelli di Fium'Orbu. Watered by the Abbatescu River to the south and Fium'Orbu to the north, between the mountains and the sea, Prunelli di Fium'Orbu has all the assets you could wish for a perfect holiday in the sun. Fascinating, preserved and grandiose, the town of Prunelli has something for everyone.
Jewel Corsica nestled in a setting of a thousand shades of blue, the citadel of Prunelli overlooks from the top of its 583 meters of altitude the green valleys of the mountains of the Abatesco Valley and the whole of Fiumorbo to the sea. A true belvedere from which you can see Montecristo, the Island of Elba and Italy, this village in Upper Corsica, which admirably combines history and modernity, takes its name from the river that runs along it. Prunelli, the green lung of the Isle of Beauty, is crossed by a very large number of hiking, hiking, horseback riding and cycling routes that will lead you to superb panoramas. The "U Chjassu di i Vecchji" itinerary is an absolute must: after walking in the shade of the thick foliage of a cork oak forest, this path will take you to the promontory of Prunelli and its unique viewpoint on the plain of Aleria. Before running towards the sea to immerse yourself in its heavenly waters, you will have to visit the heart of the village of Prunelli, meeting its major buildings such as its Santa Maria church, the Mnemosina Museum and the ruins of an ancient Romanesque church located on the ruins of the Cursa, a paleochristian site. And when walking below the village, you cannot miss the remains of the San Francescu Convent: in its time one of the most important Franciscan convents in Corsica, this important place of local historical heritage has been watching over Prunelli since 1699. A little further on, between the municipalities of San-Gavino and Isolaccio, the sumptuous Buja waterfall is worth a visit: 100 metres high, it is the highest waterfall in Corsica. We bet you won't be able to resist the idea of diving into the large clear water basin at its foot!
After all these excursions, how about discovering the magnificent beaches of Prunelli, perfect for sunny getaways? Calzarellu Beach" is undoubtedly the most beautiful stretch of sand in the seaside resort: from the right bank of the Fium'Orbu river to the Gradugine pond, this preserved beach is a small secret area with very few visitors. Bordered by a pond and a thick scrubland, its small wild beach air gives it a beach look at the end of the world. A little further on, near Ghisonaccia (the neighbouring town), you can rent pedal boats, sea kayaking, sailing, water skiing or wakeboarding. And if you would be passing through Prunelli during the winter, it will be possible to reach the Ghisoni ski resort in less than an hour, located between 1580 and 1870 meters above sea level on the slopes of Monte Renoso.
