Near the Swiss border in Haute-Savoie, the peaceful town of Châtel welcomes many holidaymakers every year in search of calm and splendor. This tourist resort of winter and summer sports is part of the Gates of the Soleil, one of the largest ski areas in the world, began to develop after the Second World War. This unforgettable experience allows you to get an incomparable view of the Abondance Valley while experiencing one of the greatest adrenaline rushes of your life !
If you prefer to keep your feet on the ground, come and visit the sumptuous Saint-Laurent church. Built in the 15th century, this hidden gem of neogothic style inspires serenity thanks to its soft and harmonious colors.
Gastronomy, Châtel has nothing to envy the other Savoyard communes. The valley of Abondance even has a cheese in its name. This specialty with amber color is the main ingredient of a local recipe, the Berthoud, in which it is watered with white wine and tasted with potatoes. An appointment to savor typical recipes of the corner : the Table Savoyarde ! As the name implies, this rustically decorated restaurant serves only hearty Savoyard dishes, to the delight of gourmets and gourmets alike.

Very beautiful flowered resort. The restaurant on Lac de la Plagne is to be discovered: very nice owners and a very beautiful setting with the lake as well as the restaurant "Le Clos Savoyard" with its specialities. To discover the lake of Arvoin, beautiful walks to the waterfall.

Restaurant "Chez Denis": we are really at Denis' with his cows and his cheese making laboratory. Very good products at a reasonable price. The fondue is amazing.
