Looking for a resort on a human scale to spend a peaceful family holiday... ? Your happiness is at Les Orres 1800 ! If Les Orres was once a small village perched in the Hautes-Alpes, it is nowadays a privileged destination for winter sports enthusiasts and high mountains ! The first station was born in the 1970s at 1650 meters above sea level near the capital. It was only thirty years later that his little sister, Les Orres 1800, made his appearance. Between 2006 and 2009, the station is developing little by little. The perfect archetype of a modern ski resort, it nevertheless retains a certain intimate charm. Ideal for families, the quality ski area is worthy of major resorts, agitation and noise less.
Les Orres gather around 30 marked trails on its two stations. The peculiarity of the area is that a large part of the slopes lie in the middle of the larch forests. It is in this magical setting that you can descend the slopes of all levels benefiting from a privileged snowfall. If you are a sports enthusiast, you can enjoy the snowpark and the toboggan run. Come also discover the airboard, inflatable luge on which one lengthens front face. Strong sensations guaranteed !
A stay in the Hautes-Alpes is the best opportunity to taste the local gastronomy. It must be said that mountain dishes enjoy a very good reputation in France (and elsewhere !). Do not miss the Winter Lounge, a cozy restaurant in the heart of the resort. In a modern and warm setting, a culinary journey in simplicity awaits you. Mountain specialties, but not just that ! The menu offers varied and exquisite cocktails, hearty salads, delicious pasta dishes and even tapas.
If you have the possibility to go to Orres 1650, a neighboring station served by a shuttle, also take a tour of "La Table". Sébastien Félix, renowned chef and owner of the restaurant, welcomes you with open arms. An enticing menu gives you the choice between local cuisine or specialties of the chef. Note that all dishes are made with fresh products that have kept all their natural flavor. In desserts, the homemade pastries will make you fall backwards. Black forest with its delicious cherries, tiramisu with apples from the Caramelised Alps, charlotte with raspberries and white chocolate... an address to recommend to all gourmets !

The resort is extremely welcoming, with a huge range of activities for all ages, including mountain biking (thanks to the HTT school), hiking, accrobranche, summer tobogganing, ice skating, cinema... Good dining options, with a large number of establishments and a wide range of choices. Several take-away options too, and plenty of local shops. And all on site, when you want to take your car and head down to embrun, the "water and white water" offers are added on top of that, including swimming in the lake. Truly, an excellent blend of sea and mountains! The only small regret about the Les Orres resort is the layout of the parking lots and parking spaces, which unfortunately makes the car such an integral part of the landscape and everyday life.

The site is just beautiful. It is absolutely necessary to do the hike that goes to the Lac Ste Marguerite (magical and exotic place), the Lac d'Embrun and bcp of things to do and see. We loved our summer vacation in the mountains.

We appreciated the shop in Les Orres 1800 of local products, we booked and enjoyed in the apartment a raclette with the loan of the equipment, a delight and very good value for money. And we were lucky enough to be able to bring us some very good cheese. Also in Embrun, there is a shop "Fromage et Tradition", quality and delicious products. We recommend paragliding, it was only happiness. Mountain biking was a real passion for my son and my husband, with a course from 3h30 to 1650 by serious professionals who give very good advice on how to make beautiful routes. The lake of Serre Ponçon, wouah!! Uf hikes, incredible fauna and flora and so magnificent... Finally there are still other activities to do and to do again. It's really a magical and beautiful place.

I really liked two bars: the one that makes pizzas and beers and the one next door, run by a delicious lady. On the other hand, the Italian restaurant, I don't recommend it, they're not correct and they don't sell personally. Sorry I don't remember the names of these bars but there are only three on the station so you'll remember what I said when you're in the central square of the station. The resort's leisure centre is also very family-oriented and my 4 and a half year old son talks to me regularly about the supervisor Aurélie (very professional): he loved spending time there.

We loved the walk to the lake of Sainte Marguerite. Being alone with two children of 6 and 7 years old, we chose to take the chairlift. We were not disappointed as we were able to sled on a small piece of eternal snow. The children were conquered by this extraordinary adventure. Once we arrived at the lake, we were able to cool down to the waist in pure but icy water. The view is breathtaking, the route dotted with beautiful little flowers. We even had the chance to hear the marmots whistle for a long time, and to cross one at the bend of a path. I really recommend this walk.

Station where you can find everything you need, with activities every day with a program on both stations. Very rich programming, we were delighted. And access to the 1600 station (the heart of the activities) is easy by the way, really very nice. I recommend the Italian restaurant "Snow Fever": excellent Italian table!

We left with 4 children and were delighted with the "Passep'Orres" bought at the lifts. Cinema, skating rink, municipal swimming pool and pedestrian lifts unlimited for 1 week for only 30€ per child.

We appreciated the following visits: - village of Saint Véran (the highest in Europe) - Serre-Ponçon animal park (fairy bird show, and great to see the marmots meal!) - Museoscope (history of the Serre-Ponçon dam) - variety of activities offered at Serre-ponçon Lake and Embrun. On the other hand, the walks are too difficult for children (3 to 6-7 years old): to be taken into account.

Come and eat at the "Winter Lounge": it's very good and the waitresses are smiling and friendly. Also worth doing if you like walking: Lake Sainte Marguerite d'Orres 1800, 1h45 with a magnificent view.

Activity to do with the whole family, even for children (ideally 6 years old): absolutely go to the playground, to the spray aquapark! Also to be done: summer sledges and trampoline at 1650, otherwise always nice to do: marmots within reach. Children love even the smallest ones.
