At the foot of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, in the heart of the Gavarnie valleys, Barèges is a perfect little mountain village. Perched at an altitude of 1250 metres, this ski and spa resort enjoys a very good reputation among its regular customers who come every year to ski or relax at the foot of the famous Col du Tourmalet, which has tormented many cycling fans for decades with its steep slopes. Above all, Barèges offers you the opportunity to practice a wide range of mountain activities according to your tastes, thanks to its privileged access to the Grand Tourmalet ski area, the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees. So quickly, if you are in Barèges during the winter, put on your skis without delay. On snowboard, snowscoots, snowshoes or skis, more than 100 kilometres of slopes await you, revealing incredible views of the snow-covered mountains at each pass and trail. The youngest children will be able to enjoy a snow garden, play areas, green and blue slopes (such as the Marmotte itinerary), or even toboggan runs totally dedicated to them. Freestylers? The snowpark of the resort will be perfect for you: boxes, rails and other modules will satisfy all your desires. In the sunny days, the resort becomes a real little Eldorado for hiking and mountain biking: On the side of the peaks of Néouvielle and Ramougn, the Pic du Midi, the Turon de Néouvielle, the Lac de Cap-de-Long, the Lac Blanc, the Lac Nère, the Lac Dets Coubous, the Col de Tracens or the Crête de la Touatère and the Col du Tourmalet, there are many cycle routes and other marked trails that will satisfy your desires and delight you with magnificent panoramas. The other advantage of Barèges? Its spa, which attracts many visitors every year in search of well-being in a magnificent setting. The highest spa in France, it is renowned for its sodium sulphide waters, mainly used in the treatment of rheumatism, algodystrophy and fibromyalgia. Bubble baths, aquabike, thermal steam, underwater massages, high-pressure showers, mud massage, pool relaxation, sophrology sessions, laughter yoga and foot reflexology, but also spa, hammam and other Jacuzzi breaks will give you a total relaxation.
