Vias is a small town in the department of Hérault, in the heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrenees region. It is located about forty kilometers from Montpellier and is bathed by the Mediterranean Sea.
Every summer, the same ballet of juilletists and aoûtiens resumes. This is not surprising, since this seaside resort offers a clever mix of hospitality, comfort and fun. All in a warm and soft atmosphere, typical of the Mediterranean climate.
Behind the ramparts of the old town, one can distinguish the colored facades of the traditional houses. The church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste and the castle of Preignes-le-Vieux are the main monuments of the heart of the village.
But the real star, apart from the beach that is only a few hundred meters away, is of course the Canal du Midi. Its calm, peaceful waters, its shady surroundings and its 400 or so structures contributed to the success of this waterway. Whether it was the wheat trade that justified the development of the Canal du Midi in the 17th century, today it is tourism that provides the necessary subsidies for the renovation of multiple locks, bridges, aqueducts and other dams. It is therefore both a natural and industrial spectacle that unfolds before your eyes. You can rent a boat and let yourself go on the imperturbable surface of the canal, or else turn to the vineyards.
No less than 17 remarkable villages, located in the vicinity of Vias, contribute to make this visit an unforgettable moment of your holiday. The seaside resort of Portiragnes, located between Vias and Sérignan, allows to vary the pleasures and reminds, in a certain way, the nearby Camargue. Very different from other beaches, Portiragnes is a land of choice for many species of migratory birds. Finally, your evenings in Vias will be animated by the numerous performances given at the Theater de l'Ardaillon, a hub of local culture.

You can jet ski, banana and towed buoys on Vias. There are also very good artisanal ice creams at Coco Mango.

For those who love mussels: the restaurant "Mac Moules" (now "Le Bistro"), menu at 12.90€ mussels / fries at will with 6 sauces to choose from, changing each time if you wish. Electric scooter ride along the canal and inland: off-road riding.

At Vias beach, you have to eat at the Pancho Villa. Excellent cocktails, excellent food and huge ice creams. The quantity is on appointment and the welcome is exemplary.

The beach of La Grande Conque which is located at Cap d'Agde: the only black sand beach and its cliffs. Recommended: a small restaurant ("La Pergola") at Grau d'Agde along the port.
