Undeniably facing the sea, the city of Cancale vibrates to the rhythm of its fishing port. True pearl of the Breton coast, Cancale is appreciated as much for its breathtaking panoramas as for its beautiful beaches and its remarkable gastronomy. Very flowery in its city centre but also along its seafront, Cancale is a city where life is good. Protected from the prevailing winds, the commune is nestled in the protected setting of the Mont-Saint-Michel Bay, exactly 25 kilometres from the Mont. Living at the rhythm of boats, tides and oyster farming parks spreading out at low tide over more than 360 hectares, Cancale is a city that can be visited as much as it can be enjoyed. Elected a remarkable site of taste, it has distinguished itself for many years thanks to its flat oysters and shellfish, so many dishes with iodized flavours that are particularly appreciated during meals facing the sea. Oyster lovers can also go to the end of the port of La Houle to buy freshly harvested oysters that fill the stalls of producers : lemons or plain, with a little taste of hazelnut or gorged with salt water, they are the stars of all the good Cancalaise tables, especially in the restaurants of the port and on the seafront. If oysters are the jewel of local gastronomy, from the sea to the land, Cancale is full of treasures that delight throughout the year Cancalais and holiday makers : mussels from Bouchot, salted lamb from the meadows, garlic from Cherrueix, carrots from the polders, vegetables from the Malouin country and crustaceans are among the most popular dishes of local gastronomy.
Lovers of pure air and strolls in the heart of large preserved spaces : you are in the right place. Indeed, the best way to discover Cancale and its surroundings is still to take the many marked paths which mark out the city. Winding along the coast, the famous customs path will take you from the port of La Houle to the tip of Le Grouin for 11 kilometres (on the GR 34). Equipped with good walking shoes, take the time to discover the flora which covers the cliffs and the multiplicity of landscapes which offers this magnificent path, sometimes on the vegetation, the wooded massifs and the cultivated fields, sometimes on the emerald sea. From the Pointe des Crolles, overlooking the port of La Houle, the panorama is breathtaking ! In the heart of beautifully preserved natural areas, these iodized walks are ideal for discovering the rugged coastline of Cancale, where sandy coves, rocky points and cliffs form a superb contrasting picture. Ultimate limit before the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, the rocky spur of the Pointe du Grouin is the ideal place to admire a breathtaking landscape on Cap Fréhel, Granville, Mont and the Chausey islands. One of the most beautiful panoramas of Cancale is the one you can observe from the Chemin de la Corniche on the Bay of Cancale and Mont-Saint-Michel : at sunrise and sunset, the spectacle of the sky tinged with shimmering colours reflected in the sea is really sumptuous ! Mountain bikers will not be outdone since several circuits take their departure in the heart of Cancale : along the Emerald Coast, the beaches, the Clos Poulet, the chapels, the fields and the bays among the most beautiful in the world, these circuits will allow you to embrace unique landscapes, as only Brittany knows how to make them. Respectively 28, 40 and 72 kilometres long, the circuits "Sur les traces de Bertrand Duguesclin", "Au cœur de la Baie" and "Entre Rance et Baie" are among the most interesting in the region.
On the beach side, many summer visitors come to the resort every summer. Despite everything, it is relatively easy to find a place on the sand for long idleness sessions under the Breton sun. In all, the commune has 6 beautiful beaches, ideal for swimming. The "Plage du Verger" is very popular, the "Plage de Cancale" is more suitable for walking and shellfish harvesting, the "Port Mer" beach is ideal for family relaxation breaks, and the "Port Picain" beach is especially popular for fishing on foot. The "Plage Saussaye" is one of the most beautiful coves on the Île-est-Vilaine thanks to its postcard decor, and the "Abrit des Flots" beach will delight holidaymakers looking for peace and quiet. In terms of nautical activities, you can surf, sail yacht, dinghy, catamaran and sail on most of the resort's beaches.
Finally, for a sea trip, board a bisquine Cancalaises : these traditional fishing boats, characteristic of the boats that once sailed in the heart of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, are now one of the best ways to discover the beauty of the Cancale coast and the islets that line it, from the Rocher de Cancale to Île des Rimains and Île des Landes, passing by the islet of Herpin.

The creperie in the port is very good (with a good note on La Fourchette). La Breizh Café is good too. The beaches to the north are very good and easy to access (Plage du Verger, du Guesclin and Sausaille beaches). The visit of Saint Malo and the Mont Saint Michel are a must. Dinan and Dinard for the pleasure of the eyes.
