If Brittany is more and more popular with holidaymakers, it is certainly because of the beauty of its landscapes, natural and preserved. On the Emerald Coast, Dinard is no exception to the rule : with its magnificent beaches, cliffs, castles and English villas on the seafront, Dinard is a privileged holiday resort, where life is good. Chic and full of charm, this seaside resort situated opposite the corsair town of Saint-Malo benefits from an ideal environment to recharge your batteries.
Dinard is said to be the most British of Brittany's cities : every year it hosts the British Film Festival, and attracts many Anglo-Saxons to its beaches, summer and winter alike. By the way, don't be surprised if your radio picks up English waves more easily than French ones! In a still very British theme, this seaside resort has several golf courses : the Trémereuc Golf Club, the Lancieux Golf Club and the Dinard Golf Club. Very popular with golfers, this 18-hole seaside "links" is the second oldest golf course in France.
The elegant Dinard has inspired many artists over the years, from Oscar Wilde to Jules Vernes, without forgetting Claude Debussy, Picasso or Agatha Christie. Charmed by the Belle Époque villas, casinos and large expanses of clear sand, one can easily understand by visiting its streets and its coast why this city has conquered the hearts of many holidaymakers through the centuries.
In order to discover the beauty of its tormented coastline, take the round path : from this path which borders immense villas, you will overhang the sea and discover impressive panoramas. Dinard has many beautiful walks : the promenade of La Malouine in particular, from the Ecluse beach to the beach of Saint-Enorgat, but also that of Clair de Lune are worth a visit. Sheltered from the prevailing winds, this romantic walk stretches from the Prieuré beach to Pointe du Moulinet. Along the port, the Grand Hotel and sumptuous villas with bow windows overlooking the sea, it is certainly Dinard's most pleasant walk since it offers hikers beautiful observation sites on the vastness of the sea. It is punctuated with well maintained gardens and rich vegetation : palm trees, cedars of the Atlas, eucalyptus... The ideal is to discover it at daybreak, or at sunset, to appreciate the spectacle of the colours of the sky reflecting on the sea. Numerous walking trails criss-cross the commune, such as the Sentier des Douaniers (9 kilometres) or the Lawrence d'Arabie circuit : 12 kilometres long, it connects the beaches of the north to the beaches of the south of the city, by country roads, coastal paths and charming alleys, so that you can admire the beauty of the Emerald Coast on foot, on horseback or by bicycle.
Finally, on the beach side, you absolutely must spend a few afternoons on the Ecluse beach : the heart of the resort, it is the favourite place for families, thanks to its activities and its children's club. Bordered by a pedestrian seafront where you will find a casino, shops, merry-go-rounds and an Olympic seawater pool, it is the busiest of the resort (you will recognize it thanks to its small blue and white striped tents which mark out the beach in good weather). The Prieuré beach, facing Saint-Malo, is one of the largest in Dinard. Its shallow waters are perfect for the little ones. Located just west of the city, Port Blanc beach is ideal for sports enthusiasts thanks to its nautical centre. Do not miss the cove of the Malouine : its preserved and wild environment gives it small airs of paradise. Little frequented by holidaymakers, it is the ideal place for a few relaxing breaks under the Breton sun. Kayaking at sunset, paddle, catamaran, surf or jet-ski, there is definitely something to do on the Breton coast !

Unfortunately the bars and restaurants are closed, so if you want to eat a fresh and copious seafood platter : I recommend you the fish shop "La Perle Des Grèves" (place de la République).

Don't hesitate to treat yourself to an afternoon at the Aquamalo aquatic centre on a rainy or grey day, to the delight of young and old alike. If you have the opportunity to go by the Vivier sur Mer during one of your visits, do not hesitate to stop at "La Dégustation Tonneau". There you will taste oysters or mussels without fuss and for those who don't like it: pancakes or sausage fries. All this in front of the sea. After a good walk to Cap Fréhel to discover a beautiful landscape, stop for lunch at the restaurant "La Ribote". The dishes there are of quality at a reasonable price. On the other hand: reservation strongly suggested.
