Looking for a seaside vacation? Why not stop in the beautiful corsair city ? The famous Saint-Malo is situated on the English Channel. One of the most popular seaside resorts on the Breton coast and in France, the town is known for its ramparts, pretty cobbled streets and fortified town.
The city of Saint-Malo contains small, secret and pleasant streets, but also a rich heritage since fifty listed buildings mark out its streets. This popular tourist spot also hosts a thalassotherapy centre and a casino : let yourself be tempted by table games, poker, slot machines or even a lunch facing the sea.
Walk around the ramparts : during this one hour walk, you will be able to see on one side the streets of the fortified city, on the other side, superb panoramas offered by the sea and the beaches of the city. Go as far as the Château de Saint-Malo, built in the 15th century : if this historic monument now houses the town hall and a museum, it was once the symbol of the power of the Dukes of Brittany.
The city lives at the rhythm of the tides : take advantage of the low tide to descend the ramparts and walk along the Grande Plage. 3 kilometres long, it offers magnificent panoramas and superb sunsets. Always at low tide, take a tour of the north side of the town to discover the Fort National, located not far from the fortifications. The listed building was built by architect Vauban to defend the corsair city from the British invasion. From this emblematic monument of the Malouin landscape, you will have a breathtaking view of Saint-Malo !
Located 400 metres from the ramparts at the mouth of the Rance, go as far as Île du Grand Bé. By passing by the beach of Bonsecours when the sea retreats, you will be able to reach the tomb of Chateaubriand. Shortly before his death, the author had indeed expressed his desire to have this little island off the corsair city as his last resting place.
Even if the waters of Saint-Malo are not known to be the warmest on the coast, take the time to swim and relax on one of the city's fine sandy beaches. Children will enjoy the Bon Secours beach, its diving board, its seawater pool and its magnificent panorama while the Grande Plage du Sillon will be ideal for sailing, catamarans, and a whole host of other water sports.
Take the time to linger in the old town of Saint-Malo which abounds in small charming shops : ice-cream makers, crêpiers and other restaurants with local flavours will open your appetite. Don't leave without having tasted the buckwheat pancakes and sweet pancakes of the Crêperie du Corps de Garde located near the Bon Secours beach or the Kouign-Amann of the Boulangerie Robino. Finally, take a tour around the restaurant Les 7 Mers : taste the oysters of Cancale and fish served in a bright room with sea view !

Very beautiful region and wonderful weather for 1 week. It's a pity, given the health situation, that the restaurants and cultural places were closed... hence the small regret of not having been able to enjoy Brittany to the full.

The big advantage: everything is nearby. It is true that you have to take the car but frankly very fast access to Saint Malo and its surroundings. The aquarium is really only a few kilometers away. Le.Mont Saint Michel is only 40 minutes away by car. Cancal is 25 minutes away. It's worth the detour to eat at the "Crêperie des Lutins" in Saint Malo. Finally there are a lot of visits to be made in the area. Nothing but happiness.

Saint Malo with its fortifications, miles of walks or swimming, and especially make days to visit the region: Dinard, Cancale, Dinan ... We went as far as Cap Fréhel: magnificent and the Mont Saint Michel on the other side. We didn't stop... A top stay.

We advise you to have lunch or dinner at the restaurants: "Le Petit Crêpier" and "Le Corps de Garde". To visit absolutely: the "Demeure du Corsaire": the owner guides you and tells you with passion the story of Saint Malo and the privateer Magon de la Lande.
