Tranquillity, escape and dynamism are the key words for your dream holiday? Direction Le Gua, a small village nestled in the heart of the mountains of Isère, only 19 kilometres from Grenoble.

It is in the heart of the Vercors Regional Natural Park that the charming village of Gua is located. Divided into three distinct municipalities, Les Saillants du Gua, Saint-Barthélemy and Prélenfrey, Le Gua's origins date back to the Middle Ages. A natural destination par excellence, the town is known for its snail fair (held every 13 March since 1845), but also for its miraculous Fountain Ardente. Considered one of the 7 Wonders of the Dauphiné, this inexhaustible source of fire lies at the bottom of a ravine located near Saint-Barthélemy, and has been spitting fire strands in the middle of the waters for hundreds of years. Some beautiful buildings also take place within the village, such as the Chapelle de la Sainte-Trinité, the Chapelle Saint-Nicolas, the église de La Ferrière built in the 17th century, or the Château de la Ferrière and its forge.

But if Le Gua is famous, it is mainly because it is a green resort of choice for holidaymakers looking for a stay in the open air. There are many sites to discover in its area, whether you are a cyclist, mountain biker, photographer, hiker, quiet walker or skier. First of all, in winter, when the snow seizes the Vercors valleys and covers them with a thick immaculate carpet, Le Gua transforms itself into a small paradise for mountain holidays. The ski resort of Villard-de-Lans is about ten minutes from the village, as are the ski resorts of Font d'Urle and Col de l'Arzelier. The one in Villard-de-Lans is the most important in the sector: the Eden of snowboarders and skiers, its area is flooded between 1111 and 2050 metres above sea level. In all, 125 kilometres of slopes for all levels await you, with 12 blue and 12 green slopes offering a smooth learning experience. The Crêtes chairlift serves multiple highly technical slopes, perfect for the most experienced skiers, while the Nordic Area of the Haut-Vercors will fill the aficionados of wide open spaces, thanks to more than 110 kilometres of alternative and skating slopes drawn through the woods, passes and snow-covered plains, with incomparable views of the Belledonne chain.

In good weather, Le Gua becomes the eldorado of nature lovers. Many sites are located near the village, so that you can enjoy a wide range of sporting experiences. Climbing to La Roche du Gerbier, underground visit to the Grottes de Choranche, hiking to Lake Notre-Dame de Commiers, relaxing on the beaches of Great Lake Laffrey... But if there is one place we strongly recommend you to go, it is certainly Lake Monteynard-Avignonet. Located an hour's drive from the Gua, this sparkling blue natural lake is the perfect place for a family day out. Sportsmen and contemplatives will inevitably find their happiness there! Pike or carp fishing, hiking, mountain biking, scuba diving, windsurfing, kitesurfing, swimming, paddle, wakeboarding, water skiing, boat rides... All this, perched at an altitude of 900 metres in a postcard setting: a dream!
