Nestled in the heart of Alpe d'Huez at an altitude of 1350 metres, Oz-en-Oisans is one of those authentic and charming "ski aux pieds" family resorts that leaves no one indifferent. Its warm and relaxing atmosphere, its chalets dressed in stones and woods surrounded by high fir trees give it a crazy charm. Easily accessible because it is located 50 kilometres from Grenoble, this pedestrian resort is loved by skiers, but also by children and teenagers because of its many facilities.
On the northern slopes of the Grandes Rousses massif, the family resort of Oz-en-Oisans offers a wide range of mountain activities and leisure activities every season. Connected to the large Alpe d'Huez ski area, Oz is a delight for skiers and snowboarders : during the winter, you can go downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, ice skating, off-piste skiing on the Grand Sablat Glacier, dog sledding, Nordic walking, ice climbing and above all snowshoeing. Through the vast snowy spaces of the massifs surrounding Oz, the valley of Eau d'Olle and the Oisans, numerous itineraries (marked out or off-piste) will invite you to succumb under the charm of the silent and sleeping landscapes of the mountain. The "Circuit de l'Alpette" through the Plateau des Lacs (accessible at all levels) will offer you magnificent views over the massifs of Belledonne and Grandes Rousses. Trade your snowshoes for crampons and embark on the adventure of the glacier hike "Col de la Pyramide" : starting from the Pic Blanc, this itinerary (also suitable for children) will allow you to discover exceptional panoramas on the glacial expanses which line the massifs of Oz-en-Oisans. Don't forget to slip your camera in your bag to immortalize the landscape from the Pic Blanc : perched at 3300 meters of altitude, the highest point of the Massif des Grandes Rousses offers a breathtaking 360° panorama on nearly a fifth of the French territory ! Hiking and skiing lovers will certainly opt for cross-country skiing excursions : to make the most of the resort's exceptional landscapes, two loops are absolutely essential. The "Boucle des Lacs", 20 kilometres long, will allow you to admire the plateaus and the peaks of the Grandes Rousses when the "Boucle de Poutran", 10 kilometres long, will lead you to superb views over the Alpe d'Huez and the Taillefer peaking at 2857 metres above sea level.
During the summer, when the snow gives way to green plateaus, the resort of Oz-sur-Oisans is a delight for outdoor enthusiasts. There are many walking routes for families, the curious, nature lovers and dreamers. We recommend the "Pré de la Pierre" circuit, or the "Source ferrugineuse" circuit through the spruce forests and alpine fields overlooking the Belledone massif. Easily accessible from the resort, the Cascade d'Oz is one of the most magical places in Oz-sur-Oisans not to be missed under any circumstances ! The Alpette and Le Pourtant cabins will give you access in just a few minutes to marked trails leading to high-altitude lakes such as Lac Noir, Lac Besson, Lac Faucille and Lac Lamat at an altitude of 2100 metres, but also to Lac Blanc, Lac du Milieu and Lac de la Fare (2700 metres). But Oz-sur-Oisans is also the starting point for a multitude of bike rides, mountain bike rides (on more than 250 kilometers of tracks) or motorcycle rides through its corbelled roads and balconies that will guarantee breathtaking views over the valleys, Lake Verney, the ascent of Vaujany, the Ornon passes, the Iron Cross and Glandon. Young and old adventurers can also learn via ferrata, zip lines, electric biking or paragliding !
Finally, when the snow has melted, the lakes, gorges, waterfalls and rivers are the scene of a wide range of nautical activities, from canyoning to rafting, including swimming sessions in the turquoise waters of the Vénéon and Romanche rivers, hydrospeed, tubing and canoeing. The nautical base of Lake Verney will be the ideal place for sailing, windsurfing and for some idleness under the sun.
