Near Biscarrosse and Mimizan, Parentis-en-Born is a pleasant retro-littoral station. In the heart of the great forest of the Landes de Gascogne, you will appreciate the authenticity of its village and the majesty of its great lake.
In Parentis-en-Born, it is difficult to escape the attraction of the lake. With an area of 3540 hectares, it has a fine sandy beach, supervised in summer, and two nautical bases where you can practice many activities : sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, towed equipment, wake board, canoeing, pedal boat... In addition, to initiate or perfect these sports, several schools offer courses and workshops. Another way to discover the lake is to board a boat for a guided walk or lunch on the water. If you wish to vary the pleasures and pass from fresh water to the ocean, it won't take you more than half an hour to reach the long beach of Biscarrosse.
After a few hours at the water's edge, set off to discover the resort. Parentis-en-Born is distinguished by its village spirit. While walking in the streets, you will be conquered by the sweetness of life so characteristic of the Landes communes. You can also discover a rich heritage : the Saint-Pierre church built in the 15th century, in garluche, with its Christ in oak wood, classified by the Fine Arts Commission, the Roland Portalier Arena, a beautiful building inaugurated in 1927, the town hall, which once bore the name of Villa Germinal... During your holidays, also take advantage of the markets and farm lounges held in the village. Meeting and convivial places, they will allow you to taste the local gastronomic specialities : foie gras, tourtière, magret, pastis...
Parentis-en-Born is an ideal holiday destination for nature lovers and is criss-crossed by numerous hiking trails. On foot, you can take the coastal route to Santiago de Compostela, the Nassey hiking trail or discover the wet meadows of the commune where Highland Cattles cows and New Forest ponies feed. By bike, more than 90 kilometres of marked cycle paths, built on old railway tracks, will allow you to enjoy the great pine forest and the shores of the great lakes. You can also join the Vélodyssée which runs 160 kilometres along the Landes coast.

Not to be missed: the restaurant "Chez Flo" where they serve a crazy house menu for 15 € for lunch (reservation necessary). The lake and the port of Parentis are adorable. There is everything you need in terms of shops. Do not miss the visit of Biscarosse beach, Arcachon, the Dune du Pilat, Cap Ferret and the Ile aux Oiseaux (to be done by boat).

If you go to Bordeaux, don't miss the original and friendly restaurant: "L'Avant-comptoir du Palais" ! More sporty: take a bike ride to reach the shores of the lake from Biscarosse to Gastes then stop at the beach of Bias. Finally, visit the Contis lighthouse and the Marquèze ecomuseum.

Parentis is not a place where there is much to do: 1 walk to the lake and 1 walk in town, you will have done the tour. Plan to move elsewhere or spend a deckchair holiday by the water.
