The village of Sanguinet is not far from the magnificent Dune du Pilat. Pleasant town of the south-west of France, it is located in the department of Landes, very appreciated for holidays under the sun, in the heart of superb natural environments. Inviting to relaxation, its lake and its forests make each year the happiness of many holidaymakers who come with family or friends, discover the charms of this pretty village facing the ocean.
With an area of 5800 hectares, Lake Sanguinet is a natural freshwater body, nearly 4000 years old. Surrounded by pines and bordered by fine sandy beaches, this lake is a true haven of peace. The temperatures in the Landes are sometimes overwhelming in summer, you will certainly love diving into its calm and transparent waters. Second largest lake in France behind that of Hourtin, it is bordered by beautiful beaches of fine sand and lined by a cycle path, ideal for walks at sunrise. Caton beach is the perfect place for long family afternoons. With its shallow waters, it will please children who can swim safely. For a walk at the rhythm of the lapping water, we advise you to board a traditional pirogue ! In addition to being an original means of transportation, it will allow you to discover all the secrets of this magnificent lake from Caton beach. You will certainly discover small isolated and deserted beaches, where you can (a little like a Robinson Crusoe of modern times) at your leisure picnic, play, and bask under the sun. The Pavilion beach will delight you with its transparent waters and wide expanse of sand. Water sports lovers, know that many activities are organized throughout the year on this lake with magical colors : boat rental, windsurfing, canoeing, fishing or water skiing, here are so many animations that will delight young and old under the Landes sun. You can also take courses for an introduction to stand-up paddle, a very popular sport in the region. Even more original : a "Stand-up Paddle Yoga" course on the water will be an original way to relax and unwind while enjoying this unique place.
If you prefer to stay on dry land, be reassured, in Sanguinet, a wide range of activities will allow you to enjoy the charms of this beautiful green area. Walking, cycling or horse riding, you will have many times the opportunity to discover Sanguinet, its forests and its lake, via marked paths accessible to all : the Pût Blanc path through the forest and the banks of the lake is really worth a detour. You will have the opportunity to see the wild coast of the region, to discover its fauna, flora, swamps and reed beds. Botany lovers and the curious will take the path of "La Gourge" and the "Résinier", to discover the richness of the local flora, between maritime pines and ferns. The Estey trail is reserved for walkers and mountain bikers : 10 kilometres long, it starts from the Estey Harbour and will take you to Biscarrosse. Once you arrive in this superb seaside resort, you will be able to enjoy its long beaches which are also surf spots recognized throughout the world. This walk is ideal to discover the surroundings, we advise you to start this hike early in the morning to enjoy the cool of the early morning, and then spend the day by the ocean. For the experienced walkers, know that the way to Santiago de Compostela also passes through the town of Sanguinet.
Finally, after the effort, comfort ! Renowned for its flavours, Landes cuisine will conquer young and old gourmets : Landes salad, pastis, seafood, foie gras, kiwi de l'Adour, chickens, sand wine, asparagus and armagnac will be on the menu for your holidays.
