Built in 1256 on the orders of Alphonse de Poitiers, the bastide of Monflanquin, absolutely magnificent, shelters very beautiful sites where it is good to stroll. Start your discovery of Monflanquin with its mythical central square: lined with arcades, half-timbered houses and bright white stone houses, it perfectly combines historical heritage and elegance. The so-called "Black Prince's House" is certainly the most famous in the whole town: proudly enthroned in the Place des Arcades, this characteristic 14th century residence takes its name from the Prince of Wales Edward of Woodstock who, in 1356, took possession of Monflanquin. Not far from there, stop off at Saint-André's church: built in 1250 in a beautifully preserved Gothic style, this imposing building is worth a visit, especially for its sober interior decoration, made of huge vaults and superb stained glass windows. Vibrating to the rhythm of its weekly market since 1256, Monflanquin and its pretty square house some beautiful examples of half-timbered houses, built just after the Hundred Years' War. Along its traditional alleys, you will cross paths with numerous art galleries and museums, such as "Pollen", the contemporary art centre of the town, and the Museum of the Bastides, ideal for a cultural break to discover the history of these new towns built between the 13th and 14th centuries in southwest France.

In the heart of the Lot et Garonne, this magnificent country house is also known as "Station Verte de Vacances": beloved by hiking enthusiasts, Monflanquin is attracting more and more visitors who, along its marked trails, discover all the uniqueness of its landscapes. During your travels in the city, you can visit the circular boulevard called "Tour de Ville" which follows the old route of the ramparts that once protected the city. Lake Monflanquin, where pike, carp and guards swim, will delight lovers of fishing and country excursions.

A festive city, Monflanquin vibrates to the rhythm of its celebrations all year round. Depending on the period you visit, you can attend the Spring Fair in April, the Wine and Cheese Fair in early May, the Antiques Fair in mid-July as well as Baroque evenings, the Shakespeare Festival of Quercy in August, and medieval days.
