The small village of Lacapelle-Marival is located in the department of the Lot, in the Occitan region. In the province of Quercy, in the heart of a region rich in caves, castles and good small restaurants, Lacapelle-Marival is the perfect place for cultural, sporting and gourmet holidays.

A few steps away from the Regional Natural Park of the Causses du Quercy, the pretty village of Lacapelle-Marival admirably combines authenticity and history. Perched between 353 and 596 metres above sea level, this picturesque village has everything to make you fall under its charm. Here, it is the medieval architecture that first and foremost jumps out at the visitor's eyes. The residences are opulent, made of old ashlars in ochre tones, old and welcoming. To start, nothing better than opting for a short visit to the Château de Lacapelle. A true local pride and joy, this castle built at the beginning of the 13th century impresses with its imposing architecture. With its wide towers topped with roofs like pointed hats, it invites the visitor to a real plunge into history. Classified as a Historic Monument, it has become today a must-see place in Lacapelle-Marival thanks to its 15th century paintings and 17th century decorations. The Medieval Garden is also worth seeing: a botanical garden, it too will perfect your immersion in the medieval atmosphere of the village thanks to its fragrant plantations, its colourful plants and its flowers, cultivated as in the Middle Ages. The town church is also worth a visit, particularly for its decorations and paintings, as are the 15th century market hall, the Laroque square and the remains of the former castle walls.

In addition to its historical capital, the town is appreciated for its absolutely splendid surroundings. Crossed by the GR6 which links Saint-Paul-sur-Ubaye to Sainte-Foy-la-Grande, the commune of Lacapelle-Marival is adored by walkers and other lovers of green holidays. Stroll by the wash-house, the lake, and whether you are on foot, by bike or by car, note that many sites less than an hour away are worth the detour. Gramat (18 kilometres away), but also the unavoidable Gouffre de Padirac further north (24 kilometres away), Rocamadour the cultural and gourmet at 30 kilometres, without forgetting Cabrerets (37 kilometres away), Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (45 kilometres away) to name but a few, are all places that make the reputation of the region! The Château d'Assier, the Château de Saignes, the Roucadour cave, the caves of Escabasses and Roussignol, the Abois cave, the Fennet cave, the caves of Fineau, Roche Percée, the caves of Lacave and the cave of Merveilles in Rocamadour will put glitter in the eyes of young and old alike...
