Indisputable jewel of the Capcir, this historical and geographical region of the Pyrenees-Orientales, Les Angles shine by their authenticity and the beauty of their landscapes. This village, which dates back to 966, is the highest in the Capcir plateau. It rises to 1655 m. The ski resort dates back to the 1960s and allowed the local population to find an alternative resource to declining agriculture. Today, therefore, it is the tourist activity that makes it possible to maintain the local heritage.
Not less than nine fountains are scattered in the four corners of the village and give a poetic side to the whole. The church of Saint-Michel des Angles, rebuilt at the end of the 19th century, has been erected on the site of the castle's former chapel. Witnesses of this era, the charm of the ancient baptismal granite backgrounds is matched only by the baroque altarpiece located in the left transept.
Those who are interested in even older times will be seduced by the archaeological site of Vallsera, located at the intersection of the valleys that extend at the foot of the massifs of the Serra de Mauri in the north and the Puig del Pam, South. This unforgettable place is accessible by car, but you can also choose to go there by bike.
Les Angles is also a great destination for mountain biking. The village resort has a Bike Park displaying 500 m of difference in altitude and 50 km of tracks of all levels. It is also possible to practice this sport in nature. It's up to you to imagine your own circuit in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees Regional Nature Park, from Mont Saint-Louis to the lakes of Capcir, passing by the wooded faceplates that dominate the High Confluence.
In winter, finally, the 22 ski lifts in the resort make it possible to take the 45 runs. The climbing by cable car is worth the detour and you will discover a unique view of the massif !

Good plans: animal park (nearby), the caves of Fontrabiouse, the little yellow train to Villefranche de Conflent (breathtaking), Font Romeu, hot baths, Cuxa abbey, St Peter's church with its treasure room in Prades... it's already not bad.

Nice little station. The ski area is small. We quickly went around the slopes. Not enough blue runs. The system of shuttles is really very practical, on the other hand it would be necessary that they pass until 20h in the evening because after the ski we need it to walk or to go shopping. As a result, there we are obliged to take the car (even to go tobogganing): it's a pity. Otherwise have a good stay in Les Angles.

The creperie in front of the town hall, good welcome and good. Avoid the bar-restaurant "Chez Antoine", really very unpleasant, if you come for a drink around 11:30 am, they refuse to serve you, preferring to keep their table for the restaurant... in short, not a trader at all!

Negative feedback on the Grotte De Fontrabiouse: indeed, they charge a handicap rate of 9.50 € but when we arrive on site, the caves are not accessible to people with reduced mobility:(
