On the shores of the Mediterranean, 15 kilometres from Perpignan, Torreilles is a real invitation to the sweetness of life. Between relaxation, leisure and discovery, your holidays will be undeniably placed under the sign of well-being.
Authentic Catalan village, Torreilles has an extraordinary charm. Mentioned since the 9th century, the city has preserved many traces of its long past : medieval alleys, small hidden squares, old pink brick houses... Walking through the historic district, you can admire the Romanesque church of Saint Julien, founded in the 11th century and rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century, the Louis Blasi square, lined with plane trees, where markets and traditional festivals take place, the priory of Llobet, archetype of the Catalan bourgeois residence... But the architectural jewel of Torreilles is undoubtedly the chapel of Juhègues. Located at the edge of the village, in a magnificent wooded park, it is organized around a hermitage, an enclosure and annex buildings perfectly preserved.
After this visit of the village, you will have well deserved some moments of relaxation at the seaside ! In a totally preserved environment, Torreilles invites you on one of its three beaches labelled Blue Flag (North, Centre and South). On the program : idleness, swimming, diving, beach volley, fitness, aquagym... But you can also enjoy the Mediterranean coast by taking the coastal route. This one will allow you to discover the dunary cordon, its characteristic vegetable species, its fauna of exception but also the two rivers which cross the commune to throw themselves in the Big Blue : Agly and Bourdigou.
Sports lovers can spend their holidays on the tennis courts, on the cycle paths (Naturavelo course, green route) and can also canoe or paddle on the Bourdigou. If you wish to make some cultural excursions, go to Perpignan to visit the palace of the kings of Majorques, the cathedral Saint-Jean-Baptiste, the museum of history of North Catalonia, the church Notre-Dame-la-Réal... Also go to discover the superb villages of the Catalan coast (Collioure, Banyuls-sur-Mer, Cerbère) and, on the way, make some greedy pauses to taste the local flavours : anchoïade, cargolade, boles de picolat, bullinada, bras de gitan, crème catalane...
