Nestled at the foot of Mont Coudon, Valletta del Var lies between the Mediterranean and the Provençal hinterland. A popular holiday destination for its calm and wide open spaces, Valletta del Var is also ideal for outdoor activities, both inland and at sea.
Authentic: this is a word that is well suited to define Valletta del Var. Caressed by the sea, bathed in sunshine and perfumed with sweet smells that evoke its singing accent, the commune, an ancient medieval city, is one of those small towns typical of Provence where it is pleasant to stroll. As you stroll through its historic alleys, you will discover everything that makes the city so special: its shaded squares, its houses coloured yellow, ochre, orange or pink, but also its beautiful gardens and flowered alleys. You will not be able to miss its high bell tower which dominates the whole town, as well as the beautiful 13th century Saint John's church and the many fountains, which soften with their melodious lapping and freshness the hot summer days, so frequent in Provençal soil. Stroll through the Place de la Convention, cross the Pont Sainte-Cécile, discover the Fontaine Jeanne, the olive tree variety conservatory. Stroll through the heart of the Domaine de Baudouvin, crowned with the "Jardin Remarquable" label: preserved like the Provençal gardens of the 18th century, it will allow young and old alike to discover a few varieties of vegetables and fruits of yesteryear, as well as magnificent specimens of flowers such as violets of parma and the belle of May. In addition to this magnificent park, the municipality of Valletta has more than 20 other gardens, parks and squares, perfect green and resourcing edens.
Passionate hikers or curious walkers? Don't miss the discovery trails that cross Mount Coudon: overlooking Valletta from its 702 metres of altitude, it offers superb walks for all levels, whether you are on foot, by bike or on horseback. In addition, the restanques du Coudon and the GR 51 are perfect routes to discover the Valetta countryside. The neighbouring city of Toulon is only 6 kilometres from the centre of Valletta, so you can reach some of the most beautiful beaches on the Toulon coast in no time at all by foot or by bike. Pipady Beach facing the harbour, Mitre Beach, Mourillon Beaches, but also Magaud Cove and Méjean Cove will be the scene of many nautical activities: swimming, sunbathing, idleness, escapades at sea, observation of the seabed, sailing, yacht trips, motor boat rental, fishing, flyboarding, paddle, buoy and jet-ski will delight young and old.
Finally, while passing through Valletta, it is impossible for you to escape the delights of local flavours: capon, anchovy, white nougat, but also artichokes with barigoule, bouillabaisse, cade, Provencal stew, fougasse, tapenade and panisse will satisfy the most gourmet among you.
