Nestled between the Maures and Esterel massifs, Roquebrune-sur-Argens has all the attractions of the ideal holiday destination. Combining the charm of the countryside with the dynamism of the Côte d'Azur seaside resorts, this commune benefits from a Mediterranean climate, guaranteeing holidaymakers both warm summers and mild winters.
Overhung by its Rock, Roquebrune-sur-Argens is an ancient medieval city made of picturesque arcaded houses. Its fountains, stone houses and chapels bear witness to the history of this Provençal town with its postcard decor. Discover its 16th century Gothic church listed as a Historic Monument, its "Old Fountain", the Clock Tower, the Castrum de Roca Bruna (the fortified village wall) and the Portalet (the main gate of the Castrum).
A popular destination for hikers, Roquebrune-sur-Argens is the starting point of many hiking trails, accessible to all. Classified as being of national interest, the Roquebrune Rock with its carmine coloured stones stands between the Maures and Esterel massifs. Its highest point, 372 metres above sea level, offers walkers a 360° panorama of the Argens valley, the coast and the Alps. The "La Draille du Facteur - Rocher de Roquebrune" (The Postman's Drail - Roquebrune Rock), 10 kilometres long, is a family outing that will allow you to discover the Roquebrune forest massifs while following the Argens river. Just as suitable for children, the "Discover 25 bridges" trail, in the heart of the Massif des Maures, will take you along an ancient aqueduct with 25 bridges, which used to supply Roquebrune with water. By mountain bike, the circuit of the Canton of Palayson (5 kilometres) walks on wide rocky tracks in the middle of cork oaks and orchids which populate the national forest. The Blavet Gorges route and the coastal path are also a must. This last, also called "Sentier des Douaniers", runs along the creeks, the calanques and the beaches of the seaside resort of Issambres (maritime district of Roquebrune). Magnificent walk, it will allow you to benefit from sumptuous panoramas on the cut out littoral.
Perfect for fully enjoying the charms of the Mediterranean, Roquebrune's beaches are less frequented than those of its neighbouring towns such as Fréjus (13 kilometres away), Ramatuelle and Saint-Tropez (28 kilometres away). To the east of Issambres is the small beach of Gaillarde. 250 meters long and composed of fine sand, it is lined with restaurants, including a panoramic that also serves as a nightclub when summer comes. Numerous coves line the Var coastline : the Calanque de Bonne Eau, the Calanque de Tardieu, and the Calanque de la Pinède (among others) will allow you to enjoy a few moments of swimming, in a preserved setting where the calm, turquoise sea meets the red rocks of the Esterel. Main beach of Issambres, "San Peïre" is the ideal place for families who will be able to relax in the shade of the umbrella pines which border the beach. At the foot of Roquebrune Rock, overlooking Lac Perrin, the Aréna beach will delight sports enthusiasts. Thanks to the presence of a nautical base, you can go canoeing, kayaking, blob jump, water skiing and wakeboarding.
If the most gourmands will not miss the three chocolate factories of Roquebrune, it will also be necessary for you to stop in one of the restaurants of the village, in order to taste there the multiple specialities of the area. Bouillabaisse, anchoïade, provençal stew, soup with pistou, sea bream, will be on the menu, accompanied by wines from the Var vineyards, white nougat, panisse and a good part of Tropezian tart.

To be advised: "L'Estancia" in Fréjus. Nothing in Roquebrune, a baker 1 km away, supermarket 2 km... nothing to do in this area. I advise against "Les Parasols d'Argent".

For children, as you head back to the village of Roquebrune/Argens, you have the Playcity park with lots of water games, a mini-golf, an accrobranche, a darts game etc.... There are sun loungers available for parents as well as a refreshment bar/ice bar.

At 1h30 drive, stop in the medieval town of Dolceaqua in Italy. A useful tip: avoid mountain roads when leaving the town. The aperitif dinner outing by catamaran at the port of Fréjus is extraordinary in its originality.

Restaurant in Saint Aygulf: "L'Émeraude" (47 place de la Galiote) with a pleasant welcome and good products well cooked. Discovery of the centre of Roquebrune: very varied, we enjoyed the many galleries (among others L'Art du Temps).
