A pretty corner of paradise nestled in the heart of the Durance valley, Mérindol flourishes under the sun of the Vaucluse, to the sound of the cicadas. Clinging to the southern slopes of the Petit Luberon, in a rocky and wooded setting, Mérindol stretches from the top of this green mountain (620 metres above sea level) to the plain of the Durance below. The 17th and 18th century houses, the Romanesque church and its bell tower, the 1806 temple, but also the high belfry, the numerous olive groves and the oil mill housed in an old temple will give you a good overview of the architectural heritage of the town. A must-see? The church of Sainte-Anne, without a doubt! Dating from the 18th century, this church is known in the region for its "buckwheat bulb", unique in the area, which has earned it a place on the inventory of historical monuments.

If the historic town is worth the detour, the plain below is just as exciting: economic lung of Mérindol, this area watered by the waters of the Durance is fertile as desired, and produces an abundance of fruits and vegetables, including the famous melon that is found in mass on the markets of Cavaillon. Also, after a few gourmet interludes on the terrace, and after having taken the time to stroll through the city, nothing better than to opt for a nice hiking session, to discover Mérindol and its surroundings. Walkers, riders or bikers, you will find in Mérindol a lot of itineraries according to your desires, in direction of the Head of the Jassine du Brau (a summit present on the commune), of the Ornithological Observatory of Mérindol, of the Forest of the Cedars of the Luberon, but also of Mallemort, Oppède and its fortress, of Cavaillon, Pertuis, Salon-de-Provence or even Avignon located at only 45 minutes of road.
