With its thousand and one facets, Lisbon, "the city of seven hills", offers the visitor a feeling of eternal discovery. The first sensation, however, is always the same: that of a city bathed in light and history. As if the sun, omnipresent, had to highlight the architectural beauty of this memorable city. It's not for nothing that Lisbon was elected the favorite destination of the French in 2015!
Nestled on the banks of the Tagus River, the Portuguese capital impresses first by the diversity of its neighborhoods. The heart of the city, the Baixa, destroyed by the earthquake of 1755, was rebuilt with a perfect urban geometry: a grid of streets lined with superb buildings and monumental squares. Next door, the Alfama has, on the contrary, the charm of a medieval suburb. Spared by the earthquake of 1755, it has preserved its narrow cobbled streets and its small stone staircases that lead to the castle of Saint George. With its picturesque atmosphere and passion for fado, this neighborhood is often considered the soul of Lisbon.
Lisbon's other neighborhoods are just as enchanting: Chiado with its chic and romantic atmosphere, Bairro Alto for its family aura by day and its festive soul by night. Belém offers yet another facet of the city and takes us back to the time of the explorers. Built for the return of Vasco de Gama, the fabulous Hieronymites Monastery bears witness to this past of discovery. Next door, the Belem Tower watches over the entrance to the port of Lisbon from its Moorish balconies. After this delight for the eyes, it is difficult to resist another pleasure: the tasting of a pastel of Belém, a small typical pastry with a worldwide reputation.
A gastronomic city, Lisbon is full of small and large restaurants where it is so pleasant to enjoy traditional recipes. Cod is the most popular dish and is available in many different preparations, all equally tasty. In summer, the tables are also decorated with grilled sardines, clams and octopus. After the meal, there is nothing better than to do a little shopping, take a walk in one of the many parks or visit one of the city's wonderful museums. The more athletic can walk or run along the Tagus River, take to the waves on a surfboard or boat, or even swing on the splendid golf courses.

To do absolutely in addition to the many visits, it is the halls in front of the station "Time Out Market Lisboa": a mix of several restaurants with lots of Portuguese specialities that can be eaten on large tables in a beautiful atmosphere until very late.

Too pretty the "Colombo Centre": great for shopping and restaurants. The cable cars, my children and I loved it and the beach of Cascais which is very pretty. Very well the Praça do Comércio with its monument and the beach from afar, as well as souvenir shops and restaurants: not to be missed.
