Calella, the tourist capital of the Costa del Maresme, invites you to discover a unique place. With its long beaches lined with cafés and restaurants, its historic centre, its family atmosphere and its nightlife, it will satisfy everyone's desires.
Stretching over 2 kilometres, Calella's coastline is an invitation to the pleasures of the sea. The two main beaches, Garbi and Gran, are quickly accessible from the city centre and offer children and adults many opportunities to have fun : beach soccer, beach volleyball, children's playground, inflatable structures on the water... But you can also practice many water sports such as sailing, windsurfing, paddle... Further south, the beach of Les Roques is surrounded by small creeks with transparent waters that invite you to discover the sea bed with mask and tuba.
Leaving the beach, take the promenade along the coast to reach the historic centre of Calella. Walking its pedestrian streets, you will appreciate the charm of its Renaissance architecture. Start your visit with the church of Santa Maria i Sant Nicolau, built in the 18th century in a neoclassical style. Nearby, go and see the beautiful market square which was for a long time the centre of the city. Then discover the numerous manor houses, the oldest of which date from the 14th century : Can de los Salvador, Can Giol, Can Bartrina... But also take the time to admire, on the seaside, the lighthouse, real symbol of the city, and the Torretes, ancient semaphore towers which made it possible to communicate along the coast.
Nestled between the Mediterranean and the first foothills of the Montnegre massif, Calella benefits from a natural environment that encourages walking. In the very heart of the city, you can take the paths of Dalmau Park, a superb 18-hectare southern garden, shaded by pines and oaks. But you can also join the hiking trails of the natural park of Montnegre and Corredor or that of Montseny. If you prefer the urban atmosphere, make a little getaway to Barcelona or Girona, close and fabulous. Back in Calella, treat yourself to a good dinner by the sea and discover all the local flavours : tapas, fresh fish, rice recipes, cicerelles and grilled prawns...
