It is 1 hour from Valencia, along the Costa del Azahar, that the very attractive seaside resort of Oropesa del Mar is located. Culture, leisure, relaxation, beach and sunbathing : in Oropesa del Mar, all the ingredients are combined so that holidaymakers spend a good stay under the Spanish sun.
With 7 fine sandy beaches spread along 12 kilometres of coastline, Oropesa del Mar is a tourist destination of choice. Families will appreciate the beach of Morro de Gos, its seafront and its beautiful parasols. Its restaurants, its glaciers and its central location make it a popular beach for holidaymakers : if the place lends itself ideally to water sports, children, equipped with masks, will also love watching small fish in warm, crystal-clear water. Just a few cables away you will find the beach of La Concha. Perfect for children, with its peaceful water, slides and swings, it is conducive to relaxation thanks to its parasols and hammocks. It is also a paradise for windsurfers, water-skiers and scuba divers who can take advantage of its 700 metres of length to indulge in their favourite sport. Those who prefer the quiet little corners away from the long beaches and the city will head for Oropesa la Vella cove and Retor cove : the latter, nestled between the marina and a hill, is the ideal place to relax in peace, equipped with a good book and a tube of sun cream !
Visit on foot the old town of Oropesa del Mar which is full of monuments in its historic centre. Don't miss the Card Games Museum, the city's former prison and its imposing castle, built in the 11th century. Near the latter is the church of the "Virgin of Patience", beautifully decorated with tiles dating from the eighteenth century. A little further on is one of the most symbolic monuments of the municipality : the Torre del Rey. This medieval fortress, built facing the sea, stands not far from the lighthouse of Oropesa, faithful guide of fishermen and navigators who furrow in the bay.
Oropesa del Mar enjoys a protected natural environment, offering many walks to hikers. Walk or cycle along the beach, the mountains, the almond trees and the orange trees of the province of Castellón. In all, 9 marked itineraries cross the natural spaces of Oropesa, from the clearest path like the "R5" along the seafront, to the steepest like the "R3" : more than 6 kilometres long, it progresses through rocks and cliffs facing the sea. From high points of view, you will be able to contemplate incredible panoramas overlooking the azure waters of the Mediterranean, the coves below and the archipelago of the Columbretes islands.
Finally, Spain is known for its warm cuisine and Oropesa del Mar is no exception to tradition ! Seafood will be in the spotlight in your dishes : sardines, sea bream, lobsters, gambas, mussels and octopus will surely be accompanied by rice, paella, cold meats or snail stews with garlic. So many dishes that will delight gourmets !

To recommend: "Le Kivu", a beach restaurant where paella is excellent but the price is a little high for Spain (you will count 15€ per portion) and the Aquarama water park in Benicasim which is very good.
