North of Barcelona, Tossa de Mar is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages on the Costa Brava. This ancient fishing village, nestled between the green hills and the intense blue of the Mediterranean, will seduce you with its environment, heritage and atmosphere.
In the heart of a large bay of fine sand, protected by rocky promontories, Tossa de Mar has a fabulous coastline. To enjoy the Mediterranean, you will have the choice between the main beach, platja Gran, lined with café terraces, pretty more intimate beaches like es Codolar or countless small wild coves. Ideal for relaxing and swimming in transparent waters, these beaches also offer the possibility to spend time sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, diving, water skiing and many other sports. You can also embark on boats to discover, from the sea, all the beauty of the Costa Brava.
A true open-air museum, Tossa de Mar also invites you to discover its wonderful heritage. Start your visit with the Old Town surrounded by impressive medieval walls. As you walk its winding streets, you can admire many whitewashed houses, the lighthouse of Tossa and the municipal museum that houses an interesting collection of contemporary painting including a painting by Chagall ("Blue Paradise", the name the artist gave to this city that he appreciated among all). Continue your walk beyond the walls to the Moorish Tower, built in the 16th century to protect the local population from looting. On the way, visit the old Mas Rabassa, a 14th century fortified farmhouse, and the church of Sant Vicenç, which is distinguished by the size of its central nave.
Inhabited since prehistory, Tossa de Mar also has many vestiges of the past. The most important of them is the Roman villa of the Ametllers. Updated in 1914, it presents a magnificent thermal complex, mosaics and many other buildings. If you wish to discover the surroundings of the city and the splendid massif of Cadiretes, the tourist office puts at your disposal brochures detailing several routes such as those of Sant Grau or Puig de ses Cadiretes. Back in Tossa de Mar, settle into one of the restaurants participating in the initiative "Tossa's traditional cuisine" and taste the local flavors : seafood, fish, paella, tortada...

The bar-tapas "Le Don Juan" is an institution and is really worth a visit. The citadel is magnificent and provides access to one of the most beautiful views of Tossa de Mar.

Very nice table in Tossa: Tursia restaurant (very pleasant welcome, very good cuisine and not too expensive: 25 € per person with aperitif and wine). Diving club very good: Andreas Diving in Tossa. Calanques extras at 5 minutes by car: Cala Futeda and Cala Giverola (pedal boat and kayak rentals 15 € per hour).

A magnificent medieval village. Superb walks along the coast. The very welcoming tourist office. To go for a day in Barcelona: departure from Blanes by train, 1h30 trip for 30 euros with a visit by tourist bus in the city.
