Salou is perhaps less known than its neighbors on the Costa Dorada, among which Tarragona and Reus. This is one of the main tourist destinations on the Spanish coast. Protected by the Cap Salou, the seaside resort multiplies the discoveries more surprising ones than the others. The crowded beaches suddenly give way to solitary handles where it is nice to extend his towel to enjoy a sun bath away from prying eyes and hubbub.
At the turn of a country road, it is not uncommon to come across a fisherman's stall or a restaurant that perpetuates the gastronomic tradition of the region while retaining on its map the ancestral recipes. Crustaceans, freshly caught fish, accompanied by a sauce made from dried peppers, tomatoes and almonds, and a selection of wines produced in the region can be enjoyed here.
The main street of Salou, the Paseo de Les Palmeres, is lively at all hours of the day and night. The city center is full of terraces, bars and other discos that remind us that it was in Spain that the fiesta was invented. Several remarkable monuments mark the historic center. There is the Torre Vella, a tower erected in the 16th century which now houses numerous exhibitions and cultural activities. In a more contemporary style, the old railway station, now refurbished, is the pride of the inhabitants of Salou.
On the edge of the city stands the theme park Universal's Port Aventura. It is one of the largest amusement parks in Spain, but also in Europe. It consists of about forty attractions, including a roller coaster, a rocking boat, flying chairs, an ice palace... The peculiarity of this park is to be divided into different zones corresponding to parts of the world, From Mexico to Polynesia, passing through China and the Far West. Expatriation assured !

About Salou: it's very beautiful and lively even too much... the beaches are crowded, we are towels against towels: not pleasant at all, there are people from everywhere. In fact, in Salou, you only have to go to Port Aventura.

The boys enjoyed the sports hall on the beach (4€ per day). Recommended: the restaurant "La Tortilleta" in Salou (opens at 7:45 pm, go early to get a table).

Restaurant "Omar" in Salou with a décor that changes from the ordinary: you can eat seafood and excellent paellas (it is advisable to book and travel for the reservation because some waitresses do not understand French by phone).
