Holiday lovers under the sign of relaxation in the heart of protected natural areas ? Welcome to Vieux-Boucau-les-Bains, a charming little seaside resort in the Landes forest. Its superb beaches and its artificial marine lake make it an ideal holiday resort, to combine the pleasures of the sea and relaxation in a magnificent setting. Located one hour from the Spanish beaches and 50 kilometres from Biarritz, the seaside resort of Vieux-Boucau is ideally located on the Atlantic coast. From the ocean to the lake, water is omnipresent in this pleasant commune on a human scale. Thus, water sports activities are at the heart of life in Vieux-Boucau. If surfing is the premier discipline on the coast, you can also learn kayaking, windsurfing, canoeing or paddle, a very popular practice along the Atlantic coast. Rent a small boat or a pedal boat, and go around the marine lake ! You can even stop on the small wooded island in the middle of the lake to discover the beauty of the local fauna and flora. A true haven of peace decorated with maritime pines, this island is ideal for a family picnic. Fed by the ocean, this artificial lake is bordered by a fine sandy beach. The little ones can enjoy several facilities, such as slides, perfect for having fun by the lake on sunny days.
On the ocean side, the beaches on the coast are all more beautiful than the others. You can relax along one of the two beaches of Vieux-Boucau: the Centrale is certainly the most popular. Protected by the dune, it is the favourite playground for beach volleyball fans when summer comes. The northern beach of Les Sablères is slightly away from the city centre. More wild than the Central beach, it is ideal for moments of relaxation. Finally, just like its neighbouring towns of Hossegor and Seignosse, Vieux-Boucau is a very popular surf spot for surfing fans: thanks to the many schools and water sports centres of the resort, you can get initiated to this typical sport of the Landes coast.
To enjoy a few moments of relaxation with family or friends, know that the commune is equipped with a mini-golf, a skatepark and a boulodrome, perfect to spend a good time under the Landes sun. As for the more sporty ones, they will not fail to take a tour of the tennis and pelota courts of Vieux-Boucau.
In this seaside resort, cycling is ideal: cycle paths and hiking trails will take you through the unspoilt nature of the town. Its pine forest hides many paths through which to adore walking. About ten kilometres from the city, do not miss the ponds of Moïsan or the lake of Soustons : along its banks lined with tall pines, the place is ideal to recharge your batteries. You can also practice nautical activities such as windsurfing or catamarans, and admire a shimmering sunset.
Finally, the Landes being marked by their rich cultural and traditional heritage, you will have the opportunity to discover the local folklore and the races Landaises, organized every summer within the picturesque arenas of the city.
