Nestled at the bottom of the Garbet Valley, in the Haut Couserans, Aulus-les-Bains is both a green resort and a renowned spa. Perched at an altitude of 762 metres on the Ariège plateaus, Aulus-les-Bains, an authentic Pyrenean commune, is appreciated for its magnificent panoramas, its wide range of leisure activities and its wellness areas adored by visitors taking the waters.

In the heart of an invigorating and resourcing nature, the village of Aulus-les-Bains is organized around its high bell tower. If its low village is rather intended for thermal tourism, its high village is typical of the mountain villages which one finds in the Pyrenees. Aulus-les-Bains is a warm, sunny town dominated by Mount Béas, and also has a border with Spain, making it the ideal place to settle down and discover neighbouring Spain. But if Aulus-les-Bains is also famous, it is above all for its spa with recognized medicinal virtues. Built in 1989, the thermal baths of Aulus exploit several springs : the Darmagnac Spring, the Bacque Spring, the New Spring and the Three Caesars Spring. Known in the treatment of urinary tract infections, cholesterol, diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure, the thermal baths offer curists a relaxing space dedicated to well-being via jet baths, a jacuzzi, a hammam and aquagym classes. A second space is dedicated to fitness through massage, mud wraps, facial care and scrubs : the ideal activities to enjoy 100% relaxation parentheses.

Definitely sporting, Aulus-les-Bains is the perfect destination for holidays of discovery and activities with family or friends. You will also find a wide range of leisure activities for relaxation and sports in the heart of nature. If there is an absolutely ideal activity to discover the beauty of Aulus-les-Bains, it is hiking. Located right next to the thermal baths of Aulus-les-Bains, the Couserans Trail Station will propose you several routes adapted according to the level of each one, through the most beautiful sites of the Couserans Valley. The 5.5 km long "Prabis" course will be perfect for an initiation to trail along the Garbet river via the GR 10. Experienced walkers can head for the "Tour de Guzet" loop (25.7 km) or the "Landes du Mont Béas" loop. Don't miss the "Tour du Pic du Cabanatous" (19 km), the "Balcons de Garbettou" loop, as well as the 13 km loop that will lead you straight to the magnificent Ars waterfall : it is the most popular hike in the whole valley. Emblematic site of Aulus-les-Bains, the waterfall of Ars is at 1252 meters of altitude, in the heart of a natural site with striking beauty. Our advice : don't forget to put your camera in your backpack in order to immortalize its impressive waterfall. Note that it is ideal to discover it in spring, when the melted snow swells the torrent. If these hikes are magnificent during the summer, they are just as magnificent during the winter with snowshoes, when the mountains are covered with their thick white coat. In addition to hiking and snowshoeing, you can enjoy horseback riding in the mountains, mountaineering, mountain biking in the hollow of the many passes of the region, fishing, playing mini-golf, paragliding over the valleys sometimes green, sometimes snowy. Whitewater sports also have a special place in the long list of things to do during your visit to Aulus-les-Bains. Thanks to the numerous canyons, waterfalls and torrents of turquoise water in the glacial valleys of the Haut-Couserans, canyoning is one of the most popular activities in the region. You can also go caving, or even initiate you to climbing. Finally, in winter, cross-country ski lovers will go to the Étang de Lhers resort, and ski and snowboard enthusiasts will take to the slopes of the Guzet Neige resort (11 kilometres away).
