Renowned for its beautiful and long beaches, the Côte Fleurie is home to a few charming villages, perfect for packing your bags and enjoying the many riches of Calvados. This is the case in particular of Saint-Arnoult: neighbouring the world-famous seaside resort of Deauville, Saint-Arnoult is the ideal place for an exotic, elegant and relaxing holiday.
With a very distant history, Saint-Arnoult's origins date back to the Middle Ages. Known throughout the region for its so-called miraculous springs, the Saint-Clair and Saint-Arnoult springs, the town attracted many families who came to treat their children and enjoy the beneficial properties of these waters. Saint-Arnoult is an excellent place to stroll, with some beautiful buildings typical of the region that you will have to visit, such as its chapel, built in the 1150's. The building, made of old stones, was at the time the very first chapel of the Order of Cluny of Normandy. Another site worth a visit is the Château de Lassay. Totally in ruins today, the one that is also known as the "Château blanc de Casiny" was built - it seemed - for love, in less than 35 days by the Lord of Saint-Arnoult. You can observe the remains of this building on the hills of Mount Casiny. A major place in the history of the Côte Fleurie, rocked by the wind and tides, Mont Casiny rises to 110 metres high and offers magnificent views of the Bay of the Seine, Deauville and the rugged coastline of Calvados. On this mountain is also the Golf Barrière de Deauville: famous for its 18 holes known by greens lovers, it offers sublime views of both the countryside and the sea.
As for activities, in addition to hiking routes through the land and coastline of the wonderful flowered coast, you can also opt for beautiful bike rides towards the very chic neighbour Deauville, but also towards Honfleur 17 kilometres further north, and Cabourg 20 kilometres further south. From Bénouville to Cabourg, you can take the "Véloroute de la Côte Fleurie" for 17 kilometres and cross Merville-Franceville, then discover the landing beaches of "Juno Beach" in Courseulles-sur-Mer, "Omaha Beach" in Colleville-sur-Mer, "Gold Beach" in Arromanches, "Sword Beach" in Ouistreham, or "Utah Beach" in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont.
Finally, you will have understood that Saint-Arnoult takes advantage of a privileged location on the Normandy coast to visit some of its most mythical sites. But its most important asset is certainly its proximity to the beaches of Deauville. Renowned throughout the world, Deauville is one of the most elegant seaside resorts in France: with its chic and pleasant living environment, its pretty and cosy residences, its mythical villas, its boards and its famous colourful parasols, Deauville is the ideal place for beautiful moments of idleness under the sun. There are many water sports activities available in the resort: you can paddle offshore, discover the coast by sea kayak, but also sail or sail. If you are ready to hoist the sails, then, among other things, you can go for a sea trip from the Yacht Club de Deauville, on board sailing boats that will allow you to discover the many birds that live in the bay, as well as breathtaking views of the Seine estuary, Trouville and the cliffs of the Roches Noires.
