Take, for example, the 7,000 kilometers of marked paths that will lead you, on foot, on horseback or by bicycle, through forests, vineyards and valleys. Then stroll along the river, on legendary rivers, aboard a gabarre, a canoe-kayak or take the height during a balloon ride. After this immersion in the nature, go to the discovery of the millenary cities of the Dordogne. Rendez-vous in Périgueux, a former Gallo-Roman city that houses some forty historic monuments. Enjoy the Vésone tower, the Barrière castle and the Saint-Front cathedral with its beautiful Byzantine domes. Then you will be charmed by the medieval city of Sarlat and admire its unique heritage : Saint-Sacerdos cathedral, La Boétie house, Gisson hotel... A stay in the Dordogne could not be complete without a long journey through history, in the Vézère valley which gathers a multitude of prehistoric sites. In the Eyzies of Tayac, discover the Font-de-Gaume cave, the Cro-Magnon shelter and the National Museum of Prehistory with its collection of 18,000 pieces retracing nearly 400,000 years of humanity's evolution. Nearby, also visit Lascaux 4, perfect replica of the famous ornate cave.
