In the heart of Southern Finistère, a few kilometres from Pointe du Raz, Audierne displays the incomparable charm of the towns on the Breton coast. Between its pretty port, its historic district, its fine sandy beach and its gourmet specialities, the beautiful maritime city invites you to discover all the riches of Cornouaille.
Already known in Roman times, Audierne is famous for its long fishing tradition. Today, the port still occupies a central place in the city and its lively quays offer pleasant moments of strolling. Near the harbour, take the alleys of the historic district. Walking along these small streets, you will be able to admire, rue Danton, the oldest house of Audierne (XVth century), the church Saint-Raymond, classified historical monument and having one of the rare belfries of baroque style of Finistère, and the church Saint-Joseph, with fabulous stained glass windows. Then extend your walk to the heights of the city to enjoy a wonderful view of the ria du Goyen.
After the visit of the city, go to the huge beach of Trescadec. Facing due south, its extremely fine sand is a real invitation to idleness. But you can also spend your time doing some of the activities on offer : diving, paddle, surfing, kayaking... Next to the beach, hiking enthusiasts can take the GR 34, the famous customs trail which runs along the Breton coast for over 1800 kilometres. This long hiking trail will allow them to join other, shorter routes that criss-cross Cape Sizun and allow them to discover the tip of the Raz, the Goyen valley or the pond of Poulguidou.
Your holiday in Audierne also offers you the opportunity to visit some of the must-see sites in southern Finistère. Go, for example, to Plouhinec to follow the traces of our ancestors, at the time of the Prehistory (dolmens of the point of Souc'h, covered path of Pors Poulhan, cave Menez Dregan). Stop at Pont-Croix, a small town of character in Brittany with its superb church of Notre-Dame de Roscudon, its house of the Marquisat and its paved streets in steps. Also take the time to appreciate Quimper and its many historical monuments (Saint-Corentin cathedral, Lanniron castle...). All his escapades will give you the opportunity to discover the gastronomic heritage and taste it ! On the menu : seafood, Kig ha Farz, pancakes and cakes, artisanal cider...
