Between land and sea, the Gulf of Morbihan is not lacking in attractions to seduce young and old. A dazzling spectacle with a thousand shades of blue, this wonderful gulf promises tranquility, wonder, discovery and sensations along the Breton coast.

Made up of a myriad of islands, each more idyllic than the next, the Gulf of Morbihan stretches over 21 kilometres in the south of Brittany. From Vannes to Larmor-Baden via Locmariaquer, Plougoumelen, Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys, Arzon, Sarzeau, Auray, Baden, Île d'Arz, Saint-Armel, Séné and Île aux Moines, this "small inland sea" reveals changing landscapes, made up of creeks, rocks, islands, points and mud flats.

Inseparable from the Gulf of Morbihan, Vannes is its main destination: nestled in the northern Gulf, this cultural and welcoming medieval town will amaze you with its beautifully preserved heart of a village. Its port, half-timbered houses, cathedral and ramparts make Vannes a historic city, very pleasant to visit in good weather as well as on rainy days. Don't miss the famous Halles, where you can enjoy delicious trays of freshly caught oysters and seafood.

Take advantage of its port to sail towards the Isle of Arz: the one known as "the Island of Captains" is well known to sailors. With its tranquility, its palpable sweetness of life, its hydrangea-lined alleys and its many coves perfect for swimming, it is so easy to succumb to its charms. If you stay there during the summer, don't miss the fireworks display at the Moulin de Berno: the colourful spectacle that is played in the sky while being reflected in the water is absolutely magnificent! It will only take a few minutes to reach Île aux Moines, located just a few cables from the mainland. With its walking trails, bicycle paths, sublime beaches and woods with poetic and inspiring names such as the Bois des Regrets, the Bois des Soupirs or the Bois d'Amour, Île aux Moines is a small paradise of wild nature. In addition to Arz and Île aux Moines, there are 40 other islands in the Gulf of Morbihan, only 13 of which are inhabited. The much less well-known island of Gavrinis is also worth a visit: facing the village of Larmor-Baden, it houses a megalithic monument of inestimable value. Built more than 5500 years ago, this cairn impresses by the beauty of the sacred engravings it contains.

For moments of idleness on the continent, Arradon and its tip seem to be perfect. Rhythmic by numerous coves, the coastline of this wild resort will offer you incomparable panoramic views of the Gulf Islands, particularly by taking the banks of the Vincin and the "Balade des deux Moulins". In its extension, Larmor-Baden and its marina, Séné and its Montsarrac Tower, Auray, its half-timbered houses and its river, but also Locmariaquer, its megaliths and its Port-Navalo will be perfect resorts for those who love the fresh air and iodized walks. The Rhuys Peninsula, Saint-Armel and Sarzeau will be ideal for cycling enthusiasts thanks to the presence of many marked trails. There is also no shortage of walking routes, since the entire Gulf of Morbihan is crossed by the GR34, one of the most famous hiking trails that runs along the entire Breton coast.

A paradise for water sports, the Gulf of Morbihan is the ideal playground for sliding activities. A kayak trip around the Rhuys Peninsula? An introduction to surfing, diving or kitesurfing in Arzon? A jet-ski session in Locmariaquer? Or would you prefer to discover the coast from a paddle or by swimming? Whatever your desires, you will necessarily find the perfect activity to make the most of your holiday. The Gulf is also beautiful from the air: paragliding and parasailing will not fail to give you chills!
