In the heart of the Pyrenees Orientales, Bolquère is a nugget whose name you will not soon forget. Directly connected to the slopes of the Pyrenees 2000 domain, Bolquère enjoys a privileged location for those who dream of a quiet vacation in the mountains, whatever the time of year.
Spread out between 1600 and 2200 meters above sea level on the Cerdan plateau, in the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees Natural Park, the village resort of Bolquère is distinguished by its traditional architecture, its winding streets, its stone houses and its numerous fountains which, with their lapping sound, give rhythm to the life of the village outside the tourist season. On the heights of the village, modern and cosy wooden chalets surrounded by fir trees nestle in the immaculate scenery of the Bolquère mountain pastures. Also, you will appreciate the quietness of the village, and you will love its ski area. For the record, Bolquère was the very first resort to be equipped with snow cannons in 1976. Its vast domain, Pyrénées 2000, can be proud of being the best equipped domain in France with a total of 26 ski lifts and some 500 snow guns that take over in case of bad weather. Bolquère-Pyrénées 2000 being twinned with Font-Romeu, the sportsmen in the soul will be able to benefit from a total of 43 kilometers of alpine ski slopes and 111 kilometers of Nordic ski trails, perfect for nature lovers and contemplative interludes. Our recommendation? Don't miss the "Estanyols" trail that will take you through spruce forests and allow you to discover the beauty of frozen rivers in winter. The "La Calme" sector will take you to the top of sunny slopes from which you can observe magnificent snowy panoramas. As far as alpine skiing is concerned, amateur skiers can try their hand at the Col del Pam, which has 10 blue runs, while experienced skiers can enjoy the 9 black runs and 8 red zigzag runs of the Roc de la Clame, perfect for a good feeling of skiing. Perched at an altitude of more than 2000 meters, the 17 green runs of the Gallinera sector will be the favorite playground of snowboarders and beginners.
In addition to skiing, a multitude of activities are offered to holidaymakers during the winter vacations. With family or friends, you can discover the joys of "snake gliss" (a kind of sled in the shape of a caterpillar), go on unforgettable excursions with sled dogs, visit farms, go horseback riding, go quad biking, and night skiing on the Gentian trail. For the more adventurous, you may want to try paragliding or hot air ballooning over the resort, driving on the ice or even diving under a frozen lake. The resort is also the ideal place for snowshoeing. Guides offer friendly hikes and outings called "Raquettes et Raclette" (snowshoeing and raclette): enough to make your mouth water!
When summer comes, under the Catalan sun, there is no shortage of activities: hiking or horseback riding to discover the local fauna and flora, mountain biking, rafting and canyoning in the resort's white water, climbing, tennis, adventure courses and fishing are on the program at Bolquère, to allow vacationers to recharge their batteries in a protected natural environment.
Finally, the resort is also conducive to relaxation thanks to the many natural hot springs that dot the region. In the heart of the mountains, facing the cottony landscapes, you can bask in the 37°C thermal waters of the "Bains Romains de Dorres" or in those of the "Bains de Llo" (16 kilometers from Bolquère).
