Between Argelès and Banyuls-sur-Mer, just a few kilometres from the border with Spain, Port-Vendres combines charm and heritage to perfection. Perfect destination to discover the Pyrenean coast and its sunny beaches, it will satisfy all the desires of holidaymakers looking for a holiday in the sun.

A town lined with blue gold, Port-Vendres is situated at the foot of the Albères mountain. On the coast of Vermeille, along the Mediterranean Sea, this natural deep-water port is served by fabulous nature, making it the delight of many visitors every year. From the vineyards of Banyuls to its hinterland culminating at 650 meters high, through its coastline dotted with beaches and pebble creeks, Port-Vendres will amaze you with the variety of its landscapes that have attracted painters and artists for decades. Its daily life is punctuated by the regular coming and going of boats, from Spain or the African continent. Take the time to stroll in its port, on its rambla, to discover the authentic Port-Vendres; don't forget to go there at the end of the day, around 5pm, to watch the return of the boats and the sale of fish on the quays. Pass through the Castellane square overlooking the port to see the Obelisk in honour of Louis XVI and its bas-reliefs; not far away, the church with the emblematic blue dome of the town stands at the entrance to the port, as does the Dome of the Horseshoe Barracks, which was once used to defend the latter from possible attacks by the sea. Hikers? Direction the imposing Béar mountain: from its fort located above the Béar redoubt, you can discover magnificent panoramas of Port-Vendres, the surrounding mountains and the sea. But to catch a glimpse of the most beautiful faces of this charming destination, you'll have to crawl through its mountains and along its coastline. The Madeloc Tower inland, the Moorish Fort facing the sea, the Fanal redoubt, the panoramas from the orientation table at the Hauts de Port-Vendres (at sunset!), the Clock Tower, the magnificent Cap d'Ullastrell, the metallic fire of the pier, or the semaphore and lighthouse of Cap Béar are among the major sites of the resort, which are a must see during your visit.

The most beautiful asset of Port-Vendres? Its beaches, no doubt about it! And the seaside resort has nothing to be ashamed of in front of its neighbours Collioure and Banyuls-sur-Mer, as it has more than 12 kilometres of beaches, each one more beautiful than the other. From the wild (and unsupervised) beach of En Baux through those of the Port (forbidden for swimming), without forgetting the very intimate, rocky and heavenly Sainte-Catherine cove, the beach of Balanti (perfect scuba diving spot), those of Bernardi, del Forat and the beach of Paulilles, you will inevitably find the perfect place to plant your parasol to bubble under the sun. Paulilles beach is certainly one of the most beautiful in Port-Vendres: spread over nearly 300 metres, in the heart of a preserved and green environment, it is ideal for family bathing. As far as water activities are concerned, you will have all the leisure to learn water skiing, wakeboarding, towed buoys, diving, sea kayaking or windsurfing on the beaches of the resort or in the neighbouring communes.
