Between sea and mountains, Granadilla de Abona is located in the south of the island of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands. The immense commune is one of the three largest on the island, covering more than 155 square kilometres. From the peaks of Montana Guajara perched at an altitude of 2718 metres to the fine sandy beaches that dot its dream coastline, Granadilla de Abona will reveal a wide range of landscapes that are ideal for escape. Hiking is one of the most popular activities during your stay in Granadilla. Against the backdrop of the Teide National Park, the municipality has a vast network of hiking trails for all levels. PR TF 83.5, PR TF 72, PR TF 83 or PR TF 83.4, from Vilaflor to Los Escurriales via Altos, Cruz de Tea, Las Vegas and La Higuera, are among the most popular routes. Montana Pelada, Montana Colorada, Los Derriscaderos or Montana de Ifara y Los Riscos are perfect edens for nature lovers and outdoor activities. While passing through the Natural Park of the Crown Forest (Corona Forestal), do not miss the viewpoint of Los Escurriales and its lunar landscape (Paisaje Lunar): this volcanic place of exceptional beauty is made up of strange mounds with surprising shapes erected towards the sky, formed by years of erosion. The old town of Granadilla is also worth a visit: from Calle Arquitecto Marrero to Fuente del Lugar, via the watermill, the Santo Hermano Pedro cave, but also the San Antonio de Padua church, the Valvario hermitage or the San Luis convent (17th century), you can discover all the architectural splendours of the city.

The other major asset of Granadilla de Abona is its beaches. The playa de La Tejita and playa d'El Médano in particular, are the most popular: the first one will surprise you with the sumptuousness of its landscapes. On the edge of the Montana Roja volcano, it is located in a small, beautifully protected natural Eden. More than a kilometre long, it is perfect for a relaxing break and sunbathing under the island sun. El Médano beach is considered one of the most beautiful in Tenerife. A paradise for surfers, windsurfers, kitesurfers and other water sports aficionados, it brings together many snowboarding fans every year. Still family, it allows long breaks swimming in its azure waters. Naturists will rather head for the intimate beach of La Pelada, when budding sports enthusiasts will enjoy the waves of El Cabezo beach.
