Spain's Costa Brava will never cease to amaze you. L'Estratit, prized seaside resort renowned for watersports and kayaking, is the ideal destination to discover the coast. Diving enthusiasts also come to explore the Medes Islands. The archipelago of seven islands doesn't have a port but a number of moorings are still scattered over the islets known for their diversified fauna and flora. Hundreds of fish, corals, seaweed and invertebrate species inhabit these peaceful waters. The natural park, which encompasses the Montgrí Massif, the Medes Islands as well as the Baix Ter swamps, is a true Catalan gem.
L'Estratit's fate is closely linked to the sea. From early on, this small fishing port of Catalonia relied on its great maritime past to attract tourists and watersports fans. On the restaurant tables, seafood can be found day and night on all plates. The city's century-old history is striking as you wander the ever-lively Santa Ana Street, where a labyrinth of winding streets surrounds the main road.
Old buildings lovers will fall in love with the 13th century Montgrí Castle. Several museums contribute to making L'Estratit a prime destination for art aficionados, such as the Casa Galibern (headquarter of the Mascot Foundation) and the Museum of the Mediterranean. The latter is notoriously housed by one of the city's most remarkable buildings, Can Quintana. All five senses are awakened in discovery of what the Mediterranean has best to offer.

What delighted us the most was to witness the slow rise of the full moon as if it was rising from the sea on the horizon. An exceptional moment behind the bay window when we were having a drink.

Sea trip to discover the Medes Islands, restaurants "Cheers Playa" and "Old Ambient", bar of the El Molino campsite (for welcome and tapas) in l'Estartit. Visits to L'Escala, Peratallada, Pals, Begur, Calella, Banyoles and its lake, Besalù. Possibility of a bus tour in Barcelona.
