Ronce-les-Bains is an ideally located holiday resort offering holidaymakers more than 25 kilometres of fine sandy beaches, endless ocean views and a wide range of activities. As far as water sports are concerned, the Côte Sauvage is a paradise for skiers and snowboarders who will be able to practice kitesurfing, bodybaord, surfing and sailing at their leisure. The beaches of the "Galon d'Or" and the "Mus de Loup" will be perfect for long afternoons of relaxation and family games. The first, a superb dune beach, will offer you a panoramic view of the Island of Oleron, a must see. The second, located at the foot of the bridge and the Seudre estuary, is quiet and little frequented : it is the ideal place for the construction of sand castles and for kite competitions. The beach of La Cèpe is very appreciated by swimmers : its fine sand, gentle slope and gentle waters make it a privileged place for a few refreshing and invigorating fathoms along the coast trembladaise. A little further away, on the beach side of the "Pointe Espagnole", you will find a wild, absolutely magnificent and preserved area : besides being the perfect setting for the observation of many species of birds nesting in the dunes, it is also a very popular surf and kitesurf spot in the region.
Bordering the coastline, the 8000 hectares of maritime pines that make up the forest of La Courbe are an authentic haven of peace : highly appreciated by walkers, riders and cyclists, this forest massif is an exceptional site for family excursions. This forest is crossed by dozens of hiking trails and more than 25 kilometres of cycle paths that will allow you to discover the pine forest and the coastline. For experienced cyclists, the "Vélodyssée" (the famous "véloroute", more than 1200 kilometres long linking Brittany to the Basque Country) also criss-crosses the coasts of the region. As for walks, we advise you to climb up to the lighthouse of La Courbe : from the top of its 300 steps, the view is incompa-rable on the forest, the coast of the Côte Sauvage and the Gironde estuary ! You will also have to visit the port of Tremblade picturesque and preserved, it is the first oyster port in France. Stroll along the Grève channel to discover the famous colourful huts for which La Tremblade is famous, and meet the oyster farmers who will not fail to make you taste the local speciality : the Marennes-Oleron oysters.
With the family, La Palmyre Zoo is one of the region's must-see zoo : stretching over 14 hectares, this zoological park nestled in a preserved environment is truly ideal for children. Gathering more than 1600 animals and 110 different species, it is one of the most visited sites of Charente-Maritime and will certainly please young and old.
Finally, the local gastronomy will make lovers of iodized flavors succumb, since seafood, oysters, shellfish and fish are kings in the region ! After a good meal, you will enjoy a good waffle or an ice cream, at the village fair or in front of the sunset show on the ocean.
