Looking for authenticity? Gourmet discoveries, seaside walks and cultural and sporting escapades in the heart of a destination prized for its calm and picturesque setting? Head for Gouesnach, in Brittany!

In the department of Finistère, Gouesnach is located on the left bank of the Odet estuary, which separates the village from the city of Quimper. Just next to Bénodet and Fouesnant, this charming village between land and river has what it takes to arouse passions, and does not fail to delight lovers of the region. Just like Brittany, Gouesnach has a rich and ancient history, which the visitor will have the opportunity to discover during his walks. Our advice? Forget your car to prefer gentle travel on foot or by bike, to take the time to contemplate the remains of the past of the town! To see? The Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church dating from 1630, recognisable by its bell tower with balusters, the Notre-Dame-du-Vray-Secours and Saint-Cadou chapels, as well as the ruined chapel of Sainte-Barbe on the left bank of the Odet, not forgetting two oratories which will complete the visit to the religious buildings. In addition, there are castles and manor houses scattered here and there on the banks of the Odet: the magnificent Château de Penfrat dating from 1859, the ruins of the Boutiguéry estate planted with magnolias, and the superb Château de Lanhuron, whose park is listed as a Historic Monument. While strolling along the banks of the Odet, you will undoubtedly cross the road of natural sites emblematic of the village such as Pors Keraign and its mooring area for boaters, Pors Meillou or Porz Gwen, known for its superb view of the Cornouaille Bridge.

To allow you to miss nothing on the land and river side, the town of Gouesnach has equipped itself with hiking trails suitable for sportsmen as well as for Sunday walkers The "Tour de la Commune" of 20 kilometres, the "Sentier Botanique" of Pors Garo (2,8 kilometres), the circuit of the village of Pouldiguy, that of Pors Meillou, without forgetting the itineraries along the banks of the Odet which winds over 14 kilometres from the cove of Saint-Cadou to Pors Guen will delight the whole family.

After tasting delicious galettes accompanied by a bowl of cider (made in Gouesnach, please!), head for the wonderful beaches of Bénodet for a relaxing break by the sea! On the Trez beach facing south, the Coq beach where it is good to dine with your feet in the water, or on the Letty beach, you will inevitably find your happiness! Swimming, lazing around, windsurfing, canoeing, sea kayaking, paddle and surfing will complete this Breton holiday.

We went to visit, on foot, the pony club where we met the owners, very nice. The children were able to stroke the horses (this equestrian centre has more than 70 horses) and we had the chance to attend a polo match, a real discovery for all of us.
