About fifteen kilometres east of Cherbourg, the small town of Fermanville is located in the department of Manche, in the Normandy region. Mixing marvellously charming bocage and superb coast, this is the ideal place to stay if you are a lover of peace and quiet and a holiday by the sea.

It is on the north-east coast of the Cotentin peninsula that the coastal town of Fermanville is located. With almost 12 kilometres of coastline, Fermanville has something for families who will find a whole host of sporting and cultural activities to do during the summer. If the sites of the Île de Tatihou, the D-Day landing beaches and the nearby La Hague Planetarium Observatory are worth a visit, the town of Fermanville is also not lacking in interest. Carved by the meanders of the Poult, a small coastal river that waters the town, the Vallée des Moulins is worth a visit. Perfect site for hiking, it is crossed by a long viaduct perched 32 meters high, which spans the valley over 242 meters of arcades. During your walks in this immense green corner, you will not be able to miss the 7 water mills which were formerly used for the production of buckwheat, but also wheat flour and walnut oil. Rich of a very old history, the commune of Fermanville shelters several megalithic sites such as the covered alley of Fermanville between the Pointe de Fréval and the Fort Joret. The High Middle Ages left Fermanville with a buried medieval boat, discovered during high tides, when the "Witch's Round" in the Trois Sapins wood and the prehistoric underwater deposit of the Biéroc will complete your historical discoveries.

In terms of nature, Fermanville has nothing to envy its prestigious neighbours. With its splendid coastline, it is a true paradise for nature lovers. Cap Levi is a must: spread over more than 213 hectares along the foreshore and cliffs that border the town, this wide rocky cape beaten by the wind and the waves is adored by lovers of ornithology and nature observation who will be able to meet birds and fish at leisure in large numbers. In the area, Fort Amiot is also worth seeing: built during the First Empire, at the request of Napoleon, this huge battery was once used to defend the Cotentin coast from possible British invasions. In ruins since the bombings of the Second World War, it was bought back before becoming today a magnificent residence. Continue your visit along the GR223 to then discover the high lighthouse of Cap Levi: built during the 19th century, before being destroyed in 1944 and then rebuilt in an admirable Art Deco style, it looks out over the coast of the Val de Saire from its lamp perched 28 metres above the sea. Pass through the Port of Cap Lévi, Port Pignot, and the Landes du Brulay to enjoy all your favourite activities, from hiking to mountain bike outings, trekking and horse riding. This wild site, where horses, ponies, goats and sheep live in peace and quiet, is a real breath of fresh air in the heart of the Normandy countryside made up of heather, moorland, ferns, gorse and maritime pines. Finally, it is impossible not to mention the beaches of the seaside resort: if the latter has small creeks of coarse sand along its coves, it is the beach of La Mondrée which wins the votes of holidaymakers: long, lined with dunes and very little traffic, it will be perfect for bubbling in the sun and for bathing in complete tranquility.
