Perched at an altitude of 1650 metres in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the resort of Les Saisies is the one you absolutely must ski down if you plan a family skiing holiday. This human-sized and welcoming village resort has managed to preserve its authentic charm thanks to its stone and wooden chalets nestled in the heart of the mountains. Its generous snow, its breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and Mont-Blanc as well as its numerous ski slopes make Les Saisies a popular ski resort for winter sports enthusiasts.
Family resort par excellence, you will find in Les Saisies 3 ski schools and more than 150 instructors ready to give lessons to the smallest, from alpine skiing to telemark through snowboarding. Several spaces are reserved for them in the four corners of the resort, without forgetting the playful activities available such as the "Marmottons' trail" or the "Elves' Forest".
Whether you are fond of downhill skiing or Nordic skiing, everyone will find what they are looking for in Les Saisies : the resort has two large ski areas, perfect for beginners, children and families, but also for the more adventurous. The Nordic cross-country skiing area is among the highest in Europe (up to 1720 metres above sea level), offering breathtaking views of Mont Blanc. In all, more than 120 kilometres of routes run through forests, snow-covered meadows and mountain passes. You can also learn about biathlon in the heart of the Olympic field of Les Saisies! The Grand Domaine is a very good playground for beginners and advanced skiers. It is made up of the "Domaine des Saisies", which has 77 kilometres of slopes, and the "Espace Diamant", which will offer you nearly 192 kilometres of slopes to descend, for all levels, linking the different resorts that make up Les Saisies. A toboggan run, several snow parks and numerous ski lifts criss-cross the mountain for the enjoyment of young and old. The resort is also dotted with numerous footpaths, offering you the opportunity, in winter and summer, to discover the local flora and fauna. In all, nearly 100 kilometres of marked routes zigzag through the snow-covered mountains. Apart from skiing, many fun and sporting activities will be at your disposal : first flights in ULM, cycling on the snow (fatbike), introduction to driving a dog team, ski joëring (skiing pulled by a horse), paragliding, snowshoe trekking, snowmobiling but also "mountain twister" (a toboggan mounted on rails, equivalent to "space mountain" on the snow) : you will be spoilt for choice !
At Saisies, snow and sun are abundant. But if the weather plays tricks on you, take refuge at the Saisies aquaport centre, located on the route du col. Here, everything is done so that you can enjoy your holidays : you will find a bowling alley, a swimming pool where you can swim and take aquabike lessons, 3 jacuzzis, a sauna, a hammam, a multisports room where you can practice team sports such as handball, basketball, but also squash, climbing, weight training, etc...
As for cooking, don't leave without tasting the savoury Savoyard gastronomy : Le Benetton, for example, offers warm cuisine facing Mont-Blanc, La Bergerie, traditional gastronomy and grilled meats over a wood fire, and Le Copon, a pretty cosy chalet, is the ideal place to enjoy a fondue or raclette. Finally, don't forget to pack a small piece of Beaufort, the region's emblematic cheese.

The covid did not allow us to try the restaurants, but the food shops are excellent. Great snowshoe hike, especially Mont Clocher with a small bar at the end where we could enjoy pancakes and tea.
